News: Bright Young Things: Jack Hemingway designs for Hush Puppies

Given the success of last season’s collaboration between established shoe brand Hush Puppies and exciting design company Hemingway Design that served to ‘place Hush Puppies back in the consciousness of the fashion forward’, according to Jack Hemingway; he has now taken on the design mantle for SS13.

There is a sense of continuity carrying through from the AW12 collection in the men’s range with similar points of reference and nods towards classic British styling, with a twist. This is most evident in the ‘Vincent’ tassel loafer, personifying the 80′s casual look, with your expected loafer details, stitched details, contemporary contrast fringing and, of course, tassels. The ‘Ace’, on the other hand, has elements of the classic bowling shoe and features bold combinations in plush woven suede.

For the first time a full women’s range is available which is an exciting, and necessary, addition to the AW12 collection. There is also a loafer (the ‘Twiggy’), available in five summer bright colours, but our favourite is the brogue which is made from suede and includes such colour combinations as cream with pastel pink, yellow and green to bright sherbet orange.

Film maker Dean Chalkley shot the campaign video on location in Margate in an attempt to capture the quintessential British-ness that the brand embodies:
