News: Adidas Originals Blue Collection

For many, adidas is a sports brand, sponsoring some of the world’s leading athletes and instantly recognisable by the trademark three stripes. Their Originals range aims to diverge from this belief somewhat. Their latest collection, the Blue range features graphic prints inspired by the 90s, and creates a standout streetwear range.

The collection blends quality tailoring and understated styling, with pieces ranging from leggings to jackets. Unique graphics are central to all the pieces, inclusive of shoes, where repeat printed fabrics are used on simple shapes for both men and women. Graphics might feature over the whole garment, or subtly on a t-shirt pocket.

To launch their range, adidas hosted a one-off print making workshop in collaboration with celebrated London-based illustrator Hattie Stewart. Hattie had been given unique license to re-interpret the Blue collection print artwork, and took three designs from the collection (the Aztec print, Firecracker camo and polka triangle) which she reinvented. Visitors to the event were given the exclusive chance to have an insight into her design and print process, and then try their hand at screen printing themselves, leaving with an adidas inspired original.
