Playlist: Jamie Lidell

Following on from the release of his eponymous sixth album, soulful electronic pioneer Jamie Lidell created a playlist of the tunes that inspired the record; one that Lidell described in a recent interview with Notion magazine as combining “the best of what I’ve done up to now. It has an integrity to it that goes back to my original electronic explorations and general love of sound.” It’s fair to say then that the tracks which were pivotal to inspiring it must be pretty close to Lidell’s heart.

It’s an eclectic mix, for sure; batting an eye at everything from the soulful, transatlantic R&B of Frank Ocean and Miguel to classics from the likes of Boogie Down Productions and ESG. You can stream the playlist – the track list of which is below – over on Rdio now:

Pink Matter – Frank Ocean
Ball – T.I. (feat Lil Wayne)
Adorn – Miguel
212 – Azealia Banks
I’ll Be Gone – Slave
Birthday Song – 2 Chainz
Friends – Whodni
South Bronx – Boogie Down Productions
Monkey Trees – Kendrick Lamar
Skew It On The Bar-B – Outkast
More Bounce to The Ounce – Zapp
What Have You Done For Me Lately – Janet Jackson

His new album, Jamie Lidell, is also available for streaming over on Rdio now.
