Preview: Flatpack Film Festival

Now in its seventh year, Birmingham’s Flatpack Festival is still going strong, offering a diverse range of new movies, classics and events in a number of Birmingham’s cinemas.

This year, Flatpack are screening such films as Harmony Korine‘s Spring Breakers (a film we’re very excited about), Andrzej Zulawski‘s cult-classic Possession, Haifaa al-Mansour‘s charming Saudi coming-of-age story Wadjda, Harold Lloyd‘s fantastic comedy  from the silent era Safety Last!, Carl Dreyer‘s long lost masterpiece The Passion of Joan of Arc (which is screening in Birmingham Cathedral with a live piano score), and much, much more.

Of course, for a festival whose motto is “Film. And then some”, there’s always going to be more to see than just movies. Exhibitions, walking tours, a lantern show and presentations are just a few of the many things going on at this most varied and eccentric of film festivals.

For more details, including ticket info, check out their website, or their Facebook page.

Birmingham’s Flatpack Festival runs from 21st-31st March at various locations around the city.
