News: Swich It Up – New shoe design for Boxfresh

Earlier this year, British street wear pioneer Boxfresh and footwear retailer schuh invited aspiring designers to come up with a fresh new look for Boxfresh’s cult Swich hi-top and its matching shoe box. The Swich It Up competition was aimed at encouraging creativity and raising funds for Teenage Cancer Trust.

A judging panel  - which included our very own online editor, Seb Law – was then faced with the tricky task of picking a winner from the mass of innovative and creative entries.

The winning Boxfresh shoe was designed by Sarah Coe, a recent graduate from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in Dundee. Her unique design impressed the jury with its juxtaposition of black and white graphic patterns against multicolored abstract shapes. Distinctive, bold and fresh, Sarah’s conception is big on originality and style and reflects Boxfresh’s appreciation for youth culture and creativity. Speaking about the inspiration behind her design, Sarah said “I believe a person’s style is as individual as their imagination and so I have created a mini world of visual whimsy in these trainers”.

Sarah’s Swich shoe and shoebox will be produced and sold at schuh nationwide and on the Boxfresh site this summer, with 10% of the sales going the Teenage Cancer Trust.
