Five of the best from Waze and Odyssey

Guess what kids, something even more exciting than gorging on chocolate eggs awaits you this Bank Holiday Weekend… Potty Mouth Disco is returning to London, and they have a typically egg-sellent line-up to make you feel hoppy.

But cruddy seasonal puns aside – come on, somebunny‘s gotta do it – the event on Thursday 28th March is guaranteed to be a highlight of the Easter weekender, with DJ T, Tiger and Woods and Waze and Odyssey.

As we are so impressed with W&O’s backstory – they pretended to be US garage veterans from Miami, but are actually just plain ol’ Serge Santiago and Firas Waez from London – we asked them each to name five special songs close to their hearts.

Listen, enjoy and take a shifty peek in to what can be found in the sacred hollows of a DJ’s iPod… football anthems? Eddie Murphy? R Kelly remixes? You betcha!

First up, Firas! What was your biggest track of 2012?

Medlar – Knockard Pearl (Detroit Swindle remix)

‘We love both these acts and their production so it was exciting to see them come together on wax for this remix.’

Biggest track of 2013 so far

Citizen – In My Mind (W&O Street Tracks)

‘This is the other side to Raid’s ‘Ejeca vs Rythm Operator’ on our w&o street tracks label. It’s a real winner.’

What’s your hot tip for summer

Murat Tepeli – Forever (Prosumer’s Hold Me Touch Me Remix)

‘I absolutely love how stripped back it is. The subtle strings and that vocal… wow! Definitely got sunshine/fun time written all over it.’

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Aaliyah – Try Again

‘The one and only Aaliyah (RIP) during a vintage time for Timbaland.’

What was your first vinyl?

New Order – World In Motion

‘This was my first ever vinyl when I was 8 years old….it was blue…I found it the other day when I was moving house. I’ve still got it!’

Now you, Serg! What was your biggest track of 2012?

Garage $ale – Bump N Grind

‘Crowd sing along moments have been epic to this.’

Biggest track of 2013 so far?

Ejeca – Night Rays

‘It’s been quite unexpected how massive this has been so far. We’re chuffed and it’s a great look for our label Street Tracks.’

What’s your hot tip for summer?

Citizen – Worship + Tribute

‘Our boy C has a big sound, deep but full of feeling, PROPS!’

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Eddie Murphy – Party All the Time

‘Shhh, but it’s a banger!’

What’s the first record you ever bought?

Rebel MC – Street Tuff

‘LOVE this record shit… happy vibes right here.’
