New Track: Gold Panda – ‘Brazil’

2010 saw the release of Gold Panda‘s lauded debut LP Lucky Shiner. Despite the album’s success–winning the Guardian First Album Award and getting nominated for the Mercury Prize–it’s been three years since he produced any new material. March saw the release of an EP, Trust, and while it was nice for fans to receive some new dance tunes from the electro-pop artist, it wasn’t quite enough to satisfy.

Well, if you’re one of Gold Panda’s many, many listeners, you can rejoice in the announcement of a brand new single, ‘Brazil‘. You can stream it now on Soundcloud, but the single won’t be released until 20 May. The track previews good things to come in Gold Panda’s upcoming LP Half of Where You Live. The artist himself describes the song as pensive, a reflection upon his own experiences in San Paolo. Listeners can share in his meditative experience through five minutes and forty-seven seconds of Panda repeating the word “Brazil” over a signature electronic beat.

Drift Records will be hosting Gold Panda for a live performance this Record Store Day, 20 April, but fret not if you miss the show. Gold Panda has a busy summer planned, with tour dates throughout the US, Canada, and Europe until the end of July.
