Introducing: Fun Adults

First hearing about a band called Fun Adults on a label called Handsome Dad Records had me thinking I might be the target of an elaborate joke. However, a few seconds into their single ‘For Water’ quickly put me in my place; this Leeds-via-the-West-Country four piece are definitely serious about their music. Lead vocals reminiscent of Midlake cruise over artful layers of angular guitars and textured harmonies, boasting a musical proficiency that’s regretfully hard to come by in today’s minimalist-obsessed industry.

The second track on their newest double A-side single is ‘Peek and Punch’. Slowed down and haunting, swing-infused percussion and swelling brass provide a sweeping backdrop to a Fleet Foxes-style melody, elaborating on the band’s intriguing aesthetic.

Having already received glowing reviews for their early live shows, you’ll want to catch these guys at their single launch show tomorrow (May 29th) in the appropriately atmospheric setting of St Pancras Old Church. The release is available now, both digitally and on a limited run of 150 7″ vinyl copies via Handsome Dad.
