News: Secret Forum unveils comedy and speakers lineup

So we’d already established that this year’s Secret Garden Party is going to be massive, but the announcement of Secret Forum‘s comedy and speakers lineup has brought the excitement to a whole new level. The Friday will see upcoming stars such as Justin Moorhouse (Phoenix Nights, Looking for Eric), Radio 1′s Tom Deacon, Joel Dommott (Skins, Russell Howard) and many more on standup duties, plus sketches from Late Night Gimp Fight, Private Eye and others, and music from The Mad Cows. The night is to be MCd by Tim FitzHigham from BBC’s Superhumans, and set to be a side-splitter. Sanderson Jones will also be bringing his unique Comedy Sale to the festival, following its overwhelming reception at the Edinburgh Festival and a sold-out show at the Sydney Opera House.

Moving on to more serious discussion, the inaugural Deep Banter Assembly will see a panel of top thinkers – including ex-Government Drugs Czar Professor David Nutt (Imperial College London), Jamie Catto (One Giant Leap, founding member of Faithless), Mike Powers (author – Drugs 2.0) and Rachel Seifert (documentary film maker – Cocaine Unwrapped) – debate the eradication of recreational drugs in a hope to open the forum on the critical issue. Meanwhile, a host of world authorities on the supernatural will explore this year’s Secret Garden Party Arts and Expression theme of ‘Superstition’, and an interactive Town Hall meeting will fuel discussion on how to change the world. Acting as a platform for plenty more topics of conversation, Secret Forum is certainly living up to its self-assigned label of a ‘thinky-talky mothership’.

To top off this cultural experience, Soul Fire Restaurant will present Gatsby-style fine dining in its oak framed canvas hall, with brunch of Bloody Marys, Eggs of any style and piano music sotto voce being served up from 10 each morning, and three course dinners accompanied by fine wines running from 6pm onwards. Exotic summer cocktail desserts will be created by the incredible Bompas & Parr team.

With all this and so much more, you’ll want to get your tickets to this year’s Secret Garden Party right now.
