Video: Igor Volk – ‘Labyrinth’

Truly impressive in both audio and visuals, this new video from Igor Volk is well worth a watch. While it seems like plenty of artists about today are going for an ’80s aesthetic, not many manage it with such precision as this. Heavier and more psychedelic than Igor’s critically acclaimed debut, ‘Voice’ (which was nominated for Best UK Pop Music Video of 2012), this latest offering from the USSR-born musician experiments with electric guitar sounds riding over krautrock rhythms, creating a winning hybrid of funk, electronica and rock. At 4:50 minutes, this astounding accomplishment in both music and sci-fi short film has me regretting the time I spent watching Gentlemen Broncos and wishing I’d just watched this on loop for an hour and a half instead.

‘Labyrinth’ is available now via Colette.
