New Track: The Night VI – ‘Thinking of You’

When I saw the face of Sophie-Rose Harper gazing out at me from The Night VI‘s press photo, I knew I was in for a treat. You may recognise the sublime singer from her duet last year with boyfriend William Rees on Mystery Jets‘ ‘Take Me Where the Roses Grow’ (I was lucky enough to be there for this, omg you guys. MELT). Sophie’s own band, Anglo-French six-piece The Night VI, is now signed to Parlophone, and set to release its debut EP – ‘Still Thinking of You’ – on August 12th. Drawing upon their shared love of Nico, Blondie, Nick Drake and Joni Mitchell, the band has created four tracks of absolute beauty. Lead track ‘Thinking of You’ speaks of love, loneliness, isolation and despair in a moment Sophie describes as “missing the person that you love and at the same time hating them for making you feel that way”. We Mystery Jets fans will try not to read into it too much ;)
