New Track: A Grave With No Name – ‘Dig Me Out’

Ffs Alanna McArdle, will you please stop making the rest of us look bad? It’s hard to believe the beauty behind Ides was still in high school when I first made her acquaintance, by which point she was already building her fuzztone empire as one half of Dead Slow. Two years on and Alanna has her fingers in all sorts of pies, the latest venture being this vocal appearance on ‘Dig Me Out’. Another sample from Whirlpool, the upcoming album from A Grave With No Name, the track follows the stunning ‘Aurora’, which also features McArdle on vox.

Recorded over the course of a year at Hackney’s Holy Mountain Studio, Whirlpool completes Alex Shields’ narrative trilogy, which began in 2009 with debut album Mountain Debris and continued with 2011′s Lower. Hazy, shoegazey, euphoric… You’ll want to put on your most worn-out jeans and most battered pair of Converse, lock yourself in your room and listen to this over and over and over again. I’m gradually coming to terms with having been too young to appreciate the ’90s; a major feat, considering I’ve been really bitter about that for ages.

Whirlpool is due for release on July 15th via Stare Records.
