Introducing our BOTW: Oliver Wilde

Earlier this year, we introduced you to the pastoral folktronica of Wiltshire’s Oliver Wilde and boy were we right to do so. Just a few months down the line, things are really heating up for the now Bristol-based producer and musician: he’s preparing his lofty debut album, A Brief Introduction to Unnatural Lightyears, for release on impeccably cool local imprint, Howling Owl Records; his curveball songs of psychedelia-tinged isolation have been gaining acclaim far and wide; and, he’s got a string of dates lined up for this month, details of which can be found here.

In the meantime, as we prepare ourselves for a week of walking Wilde’s careening, fuzz-laden paths, you can check out the video for album track ‘Perrett’s Brook‘ below. Laced with a rustic, lo-fi veneer, it’s the sound of telling ghost stories by campfires, with Mount Eerie‘s Phil Elverum whispering in your ear and Flying Saucer Attack creating an almighty ruckus. It’s a tantalising taste of what could well be one of this summer’s big sleeper hits:

A Brief Introduction to Unnatural Lightyears is available from July 22 on Howling Owl. You can pre-order it here.
