PFW SS14: Dior Homme

Dior’s SS14 collection continued Kris van Assche’s ‘geometric’ period. The designer’s obsession with straight lines and razor-clean tailoring in his work for Dior meshes with his womenswear counterpart Raf Simons and is forging a uniquely, refreshingly modern aesthetic for the storied House. Taking a Mondrian approach to burgundies, crimsons and blacks joining together with van Assche’s favoured petrol blues, this collection’s fresh approach to tailoring shapes (especially short-sleeved and sleeveless jackets) showed just how singular van Assche’s work has become, and how – after a period of upheaval in menswear – nothing beats a clean line.
