Preview: A. Sauvage SS14 preview

A. Sauvage have released a tantalising preview of their Spring/Summer 2014 collection. The pieces include distinct and contemporary interplays on day and eveningwear, with sharp and powerful lines woven into playful textures and hues.

The central themes of the collection, duality and conflict, come directly from Adrien Sauvage’s family history. Sauvage’s great-grandfather travelled to the British Isles from Nigeria in 1851 and was raised and educated in Scotland by an Irish priest. This meeting of cultures can be seen in the SS14′s work, with the incorporation of British cloths alongside scenes from the African savanna.

Another key influence to this season is the German artist Nelson Crespo, whose Eden series sees the real and surreal coming together through images of animals, plants and landscapes. These chaotic and disordered inspirations compliment the Sauvage’s restrained and measured pallet and pastel tailoring.

Establishing himself as a stylist and designer aged 19, Adrien Sauvage’s fashion house A. Sauvage was established in 2010 after realising that men’s sartorial needs were not being met. Abiding to the philosophy ‘Dress easy’, A. Sauvage has quickly become synonymous with understated luxury and a no-nonsense approach to men’s fashion.
