BEAUTIFY: Scrub up for summer (we mean it)

Body scrubs and I have always had a somewhat rocky relationship, for me there’s something weird about vigorously scrubbing painful lumps of guck onto my pale sensitive skin until it’s red raw and I resemble a lobster. But pain is beauty as they say.

When Elemis’ new salt glow and body scrub was put in front of me I was pretty doubtful this range would be any different from the sandpaper scrubs that have tortured my body before, however I’m here to tell you that it is. Besides the cocktail of ingredients that lure you into purchasing ‘an infusion of exotic tahitian monoi oil and frangipani flowers,’ the product itself is actually pretty good.  With the salt glow containing heaps of coconut oil, this was love at first smell. With the aim of the game to  ‘transport mind, body and soul to the shores of the south pacific’ I was in. Let’s face it, if a range of body scrubs can promise to transport me out of my tiny studio flat in the big smoke and onto the beach of Fiji, then I’ll buy the whole range.

The Frangipani Monoi Salt Glow, not only has an elaborate name sounding important and powerful, but a pretty impressive flip lid container, all sturdy and solid. This scrub means business. Promising to ‘restore skins radiance,’ I found it restored my faith in scrubs. Gentle and easy to use, I indulged in a product that made me feel like the woman from the herbal essences advert, making orgasmic noises in an exotic rainforest.

The sister product to this beast of a scrub is the Skin Nourishing Body Scrub, which looks tame and timid next to his Frangipani other half. This one is more of a skin prep for the fake tan kind or if your feet are in need of a good scrubbing down. More of a necessity then a luxury, this is a great pre holiday purchase to prep that bikini bod. Again, a sucker for exotic ingredients, this one ‘contains natural exfoliators of rice, bamboo and Bora Bora sand’ – I was sold at the word Bora Bora.

I have to say I’m impressed with this team of scrub-me-downs. If you’re like me and are more used to the sand from a beach in Magaluf exfoliating your crevices and cracks, then I say invest in some luxury and crack open then Salt Glow!
