Y-3 team up with Selfridges for womenswear launch

To celebrate their 10 year anniversary, Y-3 are joining forces with Selfridges to create a one-off dedicated womenswear launch.


As part of the collaboration Y-3 has selected 10 of their favourite pieces from AW13 to be sold exclusively at Selfridges’ Denim Studio base in London. The venue will house a  Y-3 area specially designed to embody the sport-style asthetic of Y-3, a spirit that still continues to thrive under the avant-garde genius of Yohji Yamamoto and his innovations at adidas.

It’s obvious what PlanetNotion’s favourite piece is going to be: Platform shoes. LOOK AT THEM. We don’t know whether we should be putting them on or collapsing at our knees to worship them. Another highlight is the Sea Backpack that looks like a avant-garde dream come true. The entire collection yet again proves how well poised Y-3 is in its style ideology, with the Japanese creativity and flair of Yamamoto working perfectly with the succinct, iconic class of adidas.



Discussing his work at adidas, Yamamoto believes: “Ten years ago, together with adidas, we created something that did not exist before, and we completely projected the future…My desire was and is to make sportswear elegant and chic. adidas has always been a very personal inspiration to me, and it continues to enrich my creative life.”

Denim Studio’s Platform Space will launch the new womenswear 19th August – 19th October. Further details can be found on the Y-3 website.
