Introducing: Kitchen Party

London’s Kitchen Party sure seem to have a habit of nailing things on the head timings-wise. Evolving from Jess’ former group - Moshi Moshi-released alt-pop threesome WooWoos, who epitomised the rejuvenated lo-fi zeitgeist of 2011 but through a pop lens – the triumvirate of garage-infused goodness that is Kitchen Party have always been pretty on the money.

WooWoos, it seems, are gone though. Two years later and with new members Tanisha and Alice, Kitchen Party find themselves building up a frothy head of steamy hype with a distinctly different sound. This time around it’s off the back of the 11th Floor mixtape – of course it’s a mixtape, 2013 – and a forthcoming single in the guise of ‘Lights‘. The track itself, unsurprisingly, feels right at home in a year that’s seen Disclosure make mincemeat of the charts and MKS finally release new music; that is to say it’s got garage beats galore with a liberal sprinkling of swoonsome harmonies and enough of a melodic bent to cavern right on into your subconscious. It won’t be leaving any time soon.
