BEAUTIFY: Colour me Badd

I’m incredibly neurotic about hair maintenance and there is nobody that I trust with my hair more than the girls at Dalston’s Bleach salon. Since 2011, they have pioneered the dip-dye phenomenon, are responsible for the hair of women from Florence Welsch to Pixie Geldof (and, most importantly, my own) and have finally launched their own product line of DIY hair colours.

Anyone who spent their teenage years searching Camden Market for the right hue of Crazy Colour, or has pleaded with the staff at Sally’s Beauty Supply for access to their professional products, knows what a drama getting your hair rainbow-shades can be. Now that they’ve teamed up with Boots, Bleach is offering its own line of wash-in/wash-out hair dyes named ‘Super Cool Colours’ –and they’re available outside of E8. In hues ranging from Washed-Up Mermaid and Awkward Peach to Bruised Violet, it is as easy as massaging the dye straight into towel-dried hair, waiting for 15 minutes and rinsing it out and, with a 2-10 wash staying power, is perfect for commitment phobes.

If even 2-10 washes seems a little extreme, my other favourite haircare purveyors, Bumble & Bumble, have just launched spray-in hair chalks that just spray in and wash out. With four colours in washed-out hues, now we can all look like Chloe Norgaard or Charlotte Free for a night. I wish.
