BEYONCE BROKE THE INTERNET

Last night, Queen Bey sucker punched the internet into global BeyMania, releasing a visual album with 14 songs, 17 videos and more than the Beyontourage had ever dreamed of. All the single ladies, single gentleman and just about everyone one with an internet connection collectively performed the mechanic hand twist while simultaneously downloading the uber-record. Oh, and consequently crashed iTunes in the process. A hefty amount of kbps later and to the left, to the left, everything they wanted was nestled in a pocket to the left. Irreplaceable.

The fifth studio album, titled BEYONCÉ (CAPS LOCK) was announced with a press release that quoted the Queen herself: “It’s more than just what I hear. When I’m connected to something, I immediately see a visual or a series of images that are tied to a feeling or an emotion, a memory from my childhood, thoughts about life, my dreams or my fantasies. And they’re all connected to the music.” No leaks. No gimmicks. 100% (Sasha) Fierce.

To save you from reading another monotonous review, here is our take on three of our favourite vidoes, embracing the minds of their featured guests. Enter, Jay Z, Frank Ocean and Blue Ivy:

Drunk in Love (Featuring JAY Z)

Beyonce ft. Jay-z ‘Drunk Love’ from Nightlife Work on Vimeo.

Shawn Carter was born December 4th, weighing in at 10 pounds, 8 ounces, he was the last of Gloria Carter’s 4 children and the only one who didn’t give any pain when she gave birth to him. That’s how she knew that he was a special child. A child so special that he would go on to sell 50 million albums worldwide put a ring on Beyoncé’s finger.

Jay Z: Dayum Beyoncé is bootylicious! Look at her all up on that beach holding a metaphorical trophy that represents our super marriage. Hmmm, she is getting all R Rated in a RiRi kind of way. I hope she isn’t still jealous about the didn’t happen (but totally did) fling we had back in the Carrib. Girl, you know your my boo and “baby you know I don’t play.” I’m ‘Drunk on Love’ and here is a verse to remind you of that. Hell, it might even push your album sales to another level! They going crazy for this one Bey!-JE

Superpower (Featuring Frank Ocean)

Beyonce ft. Frank Ocean ‘Super Power’ from Nightlife Work on Vimeo.

Frank Ocean: Okay, so the clip for ‘Super Power’ starts out with a slew of carnage-laden shots that wouldn’t feel out of place in the next Marvel blockbuster. It soon becomes clear however that BeyBey is the only superhero here: facing up to the camera with all the swagger of someone ready to conquer our hearts and fears all over again.

No matter how much fertilizer or Novacane, Frankie-O might have to hand, ain’t nothin’ Channel Orange’s premiere streetfighter can do to stop this girl running the world. Instead, the man who’s brought more rappers to tears than a Tupac video montage can only jump on backing vox for some saccharine doo-wop vibes. Nostalgia, Ultra; in more ways than one.-AC

Blue (Featuring Blue Ivy)

Blue Ivy: Finally, the world gets to see my face. I mean, I’ve been in the game now for like two years. Mom is always shielding me from the business. I once had a straw hat shoved on my face so no one would see it. Mom, hats go on top of your head, not on your face. I tried to tell you that but you know I was one and couldn’t talk… I can’t be mad with her though, she did write a song about me. I can understand why she feels alive when she holds me tight, I’m straight fire. On the real though, I feel as if she’s worried that I’m leaving. Where does she think I’m going… I’m only two. I can’t really walk. If I’m going anywhere I’m most likely going to need her to get me there. So yeah, Imma hold tight momma – real tight. *baby giggle*-CM
