Guest Playlist: Waze & Odyssey

UK house duo Waze & Odyssey are one of the hottest pairs on the electronic music circuit, and have been commanding the scene since their emergence in 2012. From their mythical back story (the two were said to have been US orphans raised on a diet of house and soul), to the release of their debut track ‘Ah Baby (Here We Go Again)’ they’ve been on a whirlwind of club nights and DJ sets, gaining club support from the likes of Maya Jane Coles, Citizen, Jimpster, Skream, Duke Dumont and Kim Ann Foxman along the way.

The pair are now back with the release of a double A-Side release. With ‘Real Good Like’, Waze & Odyssey set the bass going, with force-full pulses leading the track, snappy vocal samples and high pitched strings adding layers before the song kicks off towards the end. Likewise, ‘Everything (You’re Made Of)’ slowly builds textures in its six-minutes, the punchy bass synth pulling you in, captivating you until you’re brain is the beat.

So, to get the weekend going, Waze & Odyssey have provided us with a guest playlist that serves as the perfect post-club wind-down. Including the robotic funk of Daft Punk’s ‘Something About Us’, skirting back to full out soul with Gil Scott-Heron and ‘The Bottle’, embracing the mind altering psychosis of Flume’s ‘Holdin On (Kaytranada Edit)’ and closing with a magnetic amalgamation of gospel and soul by Mandre, there is so much going on here to love that you’ll be craving for more.

Waze & Odyssey are playing the amazing Bugged Out Weekender on the 7/8/9th March, Southport.

The double A-side release of ‘Real Good Like/Everything (You’re Made Of)’ comes in vinyl format, consisting of the double A-Side with a re-dub from Trikk and a vinyl only remix. The digital release will comprise of the two lead tracks. The tracks are released 24th Feb.
