News: Joseph Turvey x River Island Design Forum

We absolutely love Joseph Turvey. So much so that we had to chat to him for our last issue. We love the playful take on menswear that is so often missing; the fashionable sportswear, layered with Turvey’s trademark illustration work and experimental fabrication, is fun and accessible. Because of this, we’re super excited about Turvey’s next collaboration as part of River Island’s  Design Forum for SS14.

The 15-piece collection has Turvey written all over it, with a statement pink camouflage illustration and print running through the luxe sportswear, accessories and matching jersey sets.

“River Islands presence on the high street is incredible, they really push boundaries and are completely design led in their approach, so this seemed like a natural collaboration for me,” says Turvey.

“The starting point was the work of Jamel Shabazz; in particular his documentary entitled planet B-boy. This inspired the fabrications, colour and silhouettes. At the time I was also reading about blind hiker Bill Irwin, who completed trails with the help of his dog. This heavily influenced my illustration and print work.”

The collection is available now in selected River Island stores and online.
