Premiere: Newsome ‘Capricorn’

Having undergone a name change, James Berkeley, formally known as King Dinosaur, has returned under the moniker Newsome. The Brighton-based producer and singer had already grasped the attention of some of the most influential people in the biz, including Rob Da Bank, Huw Stephens and Sister Bliss. He’s also toured with Clean Bandit, Flux Pavilion and Submotion Orchestra. All of this is rather exciting.

So, to celebrate Berkeley generally being amazing, we’ve got an exclusive premiere of his new single, ‘Capricorn’. The deceptively chilled opening guitar riff, smooth vocals and staccato percussion are layered, building towards a whooshing chorus with and a dub-infused bass. The production is warm as Newsome plays up to his pop-soul vocals, the lyrics lamenting for a mysterious subject of affection. There is yearning that is not only felt vocally, but through the drawn out bass and airy synths. But enough waffle, have a listen to the track below:

Newsome releases ‘Capricorn’ on 24th March . Until then, exhaust the play button above!
