BACARDÍ – The Untameable Story

When you think of BACARDÍ what do you think of? Personally, I think of Mojitos, Cuba Libra’s and a jolly good time. But did you know that the drinks company has a historically significant past? Yes, at the heart of the brand there is a story of liberation; the Cuban fight for independence to be precise.  Founded in 1862 in the city of Santiago de Cuba by Don Facundo Barcardí Massó, the BACARDÍ brand has been through a lot, from wars to US prohibition and even being exiled in Cuba. The family owned drinks company had their assets, distilleries and home confiscated by the revolutionary Cuban administration. Don Facundo’s sons were highly involved in the Cuban fight for independence, with Emilio Barcardí Moreau being jailed twice for anti-colonial activities.

As BARCARDÍ goes introspective and delves into its past, they’ve created a cinematic advert which will go live on Sunday night. The video inspects the grit and determination behind the brand, which is still family owned. Directed by Dante Ariola, the film stars actor Jordi Mollá and features a voice over by Jason Isaacs. it was filmed on location at the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ouro Preto, Brazil. The advert premieres on Sunday night on ITV!
