Track Premiere: Labyrinth Ear – ‘Lorna’

UK duo Labyrinth Ear is comprised of Emily and Tom. Their paths crossed over mutual tastes in music and their eclectic backgrounds mean that their sound is rather interesting. The blend of folk-like lyrics fosters a visuality to their songs, while the production incorporates references and influences from diverse areas, including world music, vintage electronica and classic film scores.

Having already had success with their two EP releases, the duo are prepping for their debut album (an exciting time on all accounts). Lead single, ‘Crescent Moon’ was a melancholic electro-pop moment full of whispy synths, childlike vocals and modern production that created an atmospheric sonic moment.

Now we’ve got the premiere of another track from their album. ‘Lorna’ calls upon house music, adding Labyrinth Ear’s signature breezy sound. Like taking a mysterious trip into an unknown land, ‘Lorna’ guides you through the undergrowth of the etherial, with haunting, icy vocals whispering in the periphery of the production. The contrast between two varying types of percussion adds texture, as the vocals slowly build power towards the end of the track. Transport yourself and listen below:
Not content with premiering a rather lovely song, Labyrinth Ear have also given us some exclusive artwork. Created by singer Emily, Tthe piece is called ‘変毒為薬’ by Emily Jacobs and you can see it below:
