Playlist – Jetta

For a year or so now, music industry ITK’ers have whispered in hushed tones of a girl born to be a rockstar – with the voice, character, balls and attitude as big as her hair and way too massive for the small showcase stages she’d been playing. Now, she’s arrived – Jetta‘s here to stomp all over the world of pop. Her debut EP Crescendo, with title track produced by little known recent Notion coverstar Pharrell Williams, drops next week. Sample the goodness of that track and enjoy the influences that go in to making Jetta the OTW for the next 12 months…

Hozier – Take Me To Church

He has a real old soul voice, and I love the dark metaphors in his lyric. The video cuts right through to the bone too; it’s so raw.

London Grammar – Sights

I’m in love with Hannah’s voice, and I have yet to hear a song of theirs that doesn’t give me goosebumps.

Paramore – Ain’t It Fun

Another fun, punky record from these guys. I love how it’s a feel good track but the lyric is actually pretty sad when you really listen.

Katy Perry – Dark Horse

Love this track. It’s my favourite from her new record.

Arctic Monkeys – Do I Wanna Know

It’s tough choosing one from this album – the whole thing’s killer, but today, I’m in a ‘Do I Wanna Know’ kinda mood

The Neighbourhood – Sweater Weather

I first heard this on the freeway in LA earlier this year. It’s my summer song – reminds me of so many good times

Disclosure – Help Me Lose My Mind

It’s my chilled song that I can still dance to.

Pharrell Williams – Happy

This song does exactly what it says on the label. I instantly feel happy whenever I hear it.

Blood Orange – You’re Not Good Enough

Old school meets new school. It has just the right amount of funk, and I love the bittersweet lyric.

Mr Probz – Waves

This song’s contagious. ‘I’m slowly drifting, wave after wave’ – great, simple lyric – makes so much sense.

Crescendo EP by Jetta is released on July 1st by Polydor Records.
