Three years in the making, the latest album from Japanese drum n bass stalwart Makoto is a fantastic collection of liquid tracks with all the hallmarks of the Brazilian-style jazzy sub-genre. Opener 'Spangle' is a Nina Simone-sampling monster of a tune, certain to set even the frostiest of dancefloors on fire.

In keeping with the style Makoto adopts, there are remixes from Brazilians XRS and DJ Marky, but Makoto's own tracks very much hog the limelight. Atmospheric breakdowns sit comfortably beside high-energy rhythms and the result is an album that engages as much as it entertains. One to watch. SC
