Desert Lounge. Marrakech. October 17th - 18th.

Ahhh, it’s been a while revelers, almost a month - maybe two, since we last brought a Mulletover event to your attention. Now that’s about to change, as the kings (and queens) of the rave rev up for their annual Halloween bonanza. Hence the massive shot of jissom, seeping through my blue denims and onto my plush (broken) office chair… That’s the Big E for you folks - or “EXCITEMENT” for those unaware of my strange psychotic use of lettering... Headlining the event at a ‘top secret’ location, will be none other than REBOOT. Awooga! For those who haven’t heard of REBOOT, he’s the alias of Frankfurt luminary, Frank Heinrich. Frank started out on Frankfurt’s Below label, before being picked up by Cadenza Records and remixing for the likes of Matthias Tanzmann and Guy Gerber. As REBOOT, Frank’s beats and grooves take a skinny-dip in the deep-end, delving into the dark, the trippy and the high on BASS! Meat will also be spinning his merry yarn. The DJ returns to Mulletover following a string of releases on Fabric’s label. Like REBOOT, Meat is one of the most respected DJs to emerge from the Frankfurt scene... Northern electro pioneer, Tom Craven, will be taking a breather from his Back2Front Manchester parties to make the trip; whilst Mulletover co-founder and beloved resident, DJ Geddes, will be delivering the sound the Mulletover faithful have come to know and love. O and lest we forget, the second room will be taken over by Horsemeat Disco. Residents Jim Stanton, Severino and James Hilard, will be taking the masses on a journey through good ol’ fashioned disco of yore. You know? When people had mullets and wore purple Lycra and the women had poodle-perm hair and danced like they were doing an aerobics class and stuff. PLUS: There’s going to be a super-duper special guest! Bring on the Halloween fiesta! Mulletover Halloween Special Secret London Location November 1st 10pm - 6am Tickets: £8 - £12 (adv) More (otd) www.ticketweb.co.uk www.myspace.com/mulletoverclub

Imagine charging a Turkey Twizzler with 30,000 volts of bombastic electro. ZZZZZAAAAAPPPP!!! The result would probably be something like Twisted Licks, returning for another injection of filthy electro from some of the biggest movers and shakers around. This time round they’ll be heading to Shoreditch venue The Last Days of Decadence, on Friday October 3rd. So who’s going to be there? Here’s a Planet Notion rundown (in no particular order)… 1) The Young Punx: Who sound like rubbing your cock against a loud-speaker whilst it blares out the occasional bleep, cheesy beats and some serious synth action. Nice! 2) Modernaire: Who have received accolades from such esteemed publications as Time Out. Nuff said. 3) The XX: Whose stoner-tinged, electro-dunked pop, has left Planet Notion feeling left in the dark, for never fucking being aware of it beforehand! 4) Skull Juice’s Alex Egan: Which means some seriously twitchy but nonetheless funky electro tunage. 5) Cazals guitarist, Luca C: Who’ll be DJing and all that jazz. He ain’t no small-fry, mutha! He supported da likes’a Kissy Sell Out, bhoy! 6) Ortroka: Whose remixes of the likes of Simian Mobile Disco and Bloc Party, have garnered many a pleasant response 7) And of course: Resident DJs Guy (Fierce Panda) and Tim Fanucci (Standon Calling/Pukka Up). All together now: THE FUTURE’S DARK, THE FUTURE’S FUCKING TWISTED! Twisted Licks Friday 3rd October The Last Days of Decadence 145 Shoreditch High Street London , E1 6JE 8pm – 2.30am Tickets: £8 (before 10) £10 (after 10) www.myspace.com/twistedlicks

We’re back to that time of the month when we write a glowing preview about La Bomba. We may be like a skipped record, but we’ve got a weird passion for London’s finest Latin rave event – even though we’ve never actually bloody been! We really want to go but we’re kept on a tight leash here at Planet Notion… ACTUALLY, SCREW IT! Here's the truth! I deserve some recognition! I’m the only god-damned person that writes these previews and I get tons of the things sent to me day after day after day. If I went to every bloody event I write about I’d be twitching in the gutter like a beached trout and getting pissed on by a tramp. But I still choose to write about La Bomba every month in the sordid hope that I might actually go there and get torn to pieces by a mob of horny senorita hell-cats… Anyways, this month's La Bomba welcomes some very special guests. I haven’t actually seen them but my sources are 95.22% reliable, which is a pretty good average. Puerto Rican reggaeton duo, Khriz and Angel are going to be taking over the SEOne Club’s main floor on 27th September. Expect plenty of long-legged beauties to gyrate like cellulite and firm arses to rattle like battered washing machines. Khriz and Angel will be backed-up by regulars on the La Bomba scene, the urban Latin DJ Squad: Jose Luis, DJ Loco, Sami Sanchez and Chino. The Salsa Room does what it says on the tin. It features the sultry Latin sounds of salsa, merengue and bachata; no doubt with a twenty-first century western spin on it. This will come courtesy of La Bomba regulars Julian Mr. M, Edwin Salsa and Karlo Scarpelli. As an added incentive, there’s going to be an extra special Cuban dancer called Osbanis Tejeda doing his thing. Apparently he’s hot stuff, but I don’t feel free to pass judgement. So there we have it. Another month, another La Bomba. Another La Bomba, another no show by me. So whilst you’re rubbing your arse against some guy’s crotch or your crotch against some senorita’s arse, listening to Latin dance and doing the funky fucking chicken whilst sipping on a Mojito, spare a thought for me will you...? Please? La Bomba at SEOne Saturday 27th September 41-43 St. Thomas St London , SE1 3QX 10pm – 6am Tickets: CLICK HERE ! For a Free La Bomba mix2 download CLICK HERE !

It’s London Fashion Week this month. Gok Wan will be having a big wank over a hat that looks like a Panda; Trinny and Susanna will be fingering themselves over a jacket made of poppadoms; Planet Notion will be drinking beer and watching football… before heading to this massive closing party! [possibly] It’s going to be taking place at EGG, London and as well as live music from top DJs and the like, fashion boutiques from Brick Lane will also be setting-up shop. You know Brick Lane, right? It’s where it’s at. Whatever it may be... If that isn’t enough to get you wet, there’s also going to be free cocktails from 9.30 – 11.30. Now you’ve got our attention! The terrace floor of EGG will welcome Kenny Hawkes, a House DJ whose ability on the decks has remained consistent even as fashion changes around him. Kenny plays across the boundaries of House, with minimal techno, Detroit techno, modern soul and everything in between, incorporated in his sets. Planet Notion has been told that he’s the shit. As in really good shit. Kenny will be joined by resident EGG DJs and Sophie Belluka Sparks. Elsewhere in EGG, the basement will be taken over by Italian promoters Summer Time Global. This means even more House music, which is either a really good or really bad thing depending on your perspective. Summer Time Global will welcome sets by DJs Marc Antona, Rico Casazza, Giorgio Gatti (AKA Josko) and Cartman. There’ll be electro and house and stuff as Blue Print take over the loft, welcoming DJs Simon Lawrence, Kosmetiq and guests… So there we have it. A night of music (predominantly House) with a nod to the world of fashion – with lavishly arty and splendidly fashionable décor throughout - truly befitting a London Fashion Week closing party. Plus you can buy a nice beanie or a pair of chiffon knickers or something while you’re there. Bonus. London Fashion Week Closing Party Saturday: 20.9.08 EGG, 200 York Way, Kings Cross London , N7 9AP 9.30pm-6am Tickets: £15 (otd) £12 (conc) www.clubtickets.com

Oh! Art and music and music and art! Four of my favourite things and two of my favourite pairings. Rejoice baby, for the last in the series of San Miguel Hidden Depths events is hitting the Amersham Arms on September 18th... The show will be curated by It’s Pop It’s Art, a collaboration between EMI Records and Airside, who take lyrics from songs and stuff and make them into funky prints. For those who don’t know, Airside is designer and DJ Fred Deakin’s design company. You know, the dude from Lemon Jelly? So, basically, the final in the series of San Miguel Hidden Depths will be a visual delight, as well as a musical one. Cool, huh? Naturally, Deakin will be taking to the decks, where he’ll be joined by some very, very special guests. We can reveal that one such guest is Sam Sparro, who’ll be delving into his usual bag of electrofunk, house and pop-tinged tunes. We can also reveal that Tom Middleton will be there too, where he’ll likely be joined by even more special guest peeps. And the exciting thing about the last installment of San Miguel Hidden Depths is that it’s absolutely FREE! More on that later… It’s Pop It’s Art will also be announcing the winner of their design competition on the night. Entrants were asked to design an It’s Pop It’s Art style print based on the lyrics of late Soul singer Edwin Starr’s ‘War’. The competition doesn’t end until September 12th, which means you’ve still got eight days to enter! And who said we don’t know math. CLICK HERE for details Speaking of the competition, San Miguel Brand Manager, Elena Iborra, commented: "The competition is a great addition to the San Miguel Hidden Depths event concept, allowing people to really get involved and experience the event on a new, interactive level. It also has the potential to kick start someone's design career which we're thrilled to be supporting." Indeed. Here are the details: San Miguel Hidden Depths 2008 It’s Pop It’s Art 18th September 2008 7pm - late The Amersham Arms, New Cross, London Tickets: To register CLICK HERE !

Asking Planet Notion why we love Be@Proud is kind of like asking a Neanderthal what he/she loves about violent sex and raw bear-hide. Where do we start? You’ve got the beautiful burlesque women; the awesome audio visuals; oh, and don’t even get us started on the music! Which is why we’re going to be bringing you a fresh preview of Be@Proud every week, from here on in. We kick-off this with September 6th’s schedule; and boy is it a good’n. Be@Proud will welcome global superstars of electro-pop, Mister Furio and Professor Manso, better known as the Pinker Tones. The Barcelona born duo are one of the Spaniards’ most popular imports, whose sets delve into everything from reggae infused beach beats to electro-rock and pop ditties. New album ‘Wild Animals’ has already reached number one on the iTunes Alternativo and Emusic download charts. Tis exciting news indeed… Joining the Pinker Tones will be multi-talented Munich band: Kamerakino. The band mashes everything from the violin and ukulele, to bass guitars, synths and drums. The music differs from song to song; one minute you’ve got a folk-ditty – perfectly fitting for the horse stables of Proud - and the next you’ve got an electro-tinged multi-instrumental dance number. The sextet’s bassist played with Franz Ferdinand and Kamerakino have recently been signed to the Scottish band’s ‘NEW’ label. Tis double exciting news, um, indeed… Finally, one of London’s most in demand DJ duos, Sam Willis and Sam Nolan, will be spinning their yarn on the decks. The pair, known better as Allez Allez, are no strangers to the major club-nights and venues of the capital and have fast-gained a reputation as one of the finest live acts around. Hagpop Matossian will supply impressive 3D visuals on the night… Next week Planet Notion brings you the 13th September schedule for Be@Proud. But if you’re so desperate to see the line-up that a large wet-patch is forming round your crotch and your thighs are feeling strangely warm, CLICK HERE . Be @ Proud 6th September 2008 Proud Galleries, Horse Hospital Stables Market, Camden, NW1 8AH 8pm – 2.30am Tickets: £8 (adv) £5 (before9) £10 www.ticketweb.co.uk

Okay, first-up, don’t panic. All this crap about the world coming to an end because too many people are drinking cups of tea and microwaving frankfurters isn’t true. We were told the world would fry at the turn of the millennium and look what happened there? Sod all. But imagine if the world was ending; how would you see it off and wave farewell? A KFC? Eastenders Omnibus? Shoot a crow? Eat a truffle? Take a dump on a Route 47 bus? This is a question presented by upcoming club night ‘The End of the World Nuclear War’ at 93 Feet East, London. The renowned ‘End of the World’ series have considered how people felt in the 80s, when nuclear war seemed eminent. They’ve thought: “Fuck it, if we knew that the world was ending we’d get absolutely blotto,” so that’s exactly what they’re doing. They’re throwing a gigantic party with banging DJs and a fancy dress theme. Great, huh? The theme is 1986, when everyone was thinking that the Soviet Union and America were going to press some buttons and blow the whole world to smithereens. It was a scary time and there was mass-hysteria. People looted and everything… well, probably. Thank God for the A-Team and Knight Rider and Ghostbusters and stuff, right? They were always there to save the day. Obviously the world wasn’t blown-up and the 80s turned out to be pretty cool in the end. Fashion was fucking weird and everyone had permed hair, mullets, shell-suits and shirts with really puffy sleeves. These are the inspirations for the upcoming club-night’s fancy dress theme: Bands like Blondie and Tears for Fears; films like Rocky and ET; kids’ shows like Dungeons and Dragons and He-Man; people like Margaret Thatcher and The Hoff; items like gas-masks and boiler suits… With the theme being the end of the world and all, the music’s set to be pretty cool too. People are invited to email requests to ‘The End of the World’ by CLICKING HERE with DJs including the phenomenal Loose Cannons, Miss V, and The Angel of Mercy taking to the decks. Hell, you’re going to die anyway (for the sake of fun), so you’re entitled to a last request. Entertainment will also be supplied on the night, including a contact-juggler and a hula-hooping (sic) guy called Craig who was on Britain’s Got Talent. Double exciting, huh? There’s also an indulgence area where people can go all greedy and stuff their faces and drink really expensive champagne and stuff. Planet Notion will be attending after we’ve finished polishing our really large weapon of mass-destruction. See you there. The End of the World Nuclear War 11th October 2008 93 Feet East, Brick Lane London , E1 6RU 7.30pm Tickets: £7 (adv) £8 (after9) www.theendoftheworld.co.uk

I say Potatoe, you say Potato. I say Jalapeno, you say, um, Jalapeno Records. Yes, the little pepper with a big kick isn’t just the number one addition to kebabs up and down the country; it’s also the inspiration behind the name of infamous dance label: Jalapeno Records. The music is just as sizzling as the chilli pepper, skimming across the boundaries of dance and incorporating everything from funk music to lounge, breakbeat to house, and everything in between. Alas, picture our joy when we learned that Jalapeno Sound System is heading to the Big Chill House on September 13th… Jalapeno Records’ boss, the formidable Trevor Mac, will be the Sound System resident on the night. The Mac Daddy has already stormed festivals including Glastonbury and Bloom this year, with the upcoming Bestival next on his agenda. He’ll be joined by soul sensation Ben Westbeech; renowned more as a singer song-writer than a DJ, Westbeech is equally impressive when taking to the decks. No stranger to Jalapeno Records, Westbeech recently scored a hit with ‘Squeeze Me’ alongside label legends Kraak and Smaak. If that sounds seriously up your street, here’s all you need to know: Jalapeno Sound System The Big Chill House 13th September 9pm – 3am 257 - 259 Pentonville Road Kings Cross London N1 9NL Tickets: Free (before 10) £5 (after) www.jalapenorecords.com

Planet Notion has always dreamt of going to Cuba, what with the rum and the carnivals and the cigars and those cars that look like the ones in Scarface. So you can imagine how excited we were to find out that we’ll be going… well, sort of. You see if like Planet Notion you can barely afford a can of Special Brew let alone a trip to Cuba, “Bacardi B-Live presents La Fiesta” gives you the next nearest thing. “Bacardi B-Live presents La Fiesta” will transform London’s SeOne into a fiesta street party on September 4th, inspired by the house parties and celebrations of Bacardi that would spill out onto the Cuban streets. It’s the closest you’ll get to the sunny streets of Santiago da Cuba on the dank and dirty streets of London; or in this case, the inimitable indoor settings of the capitals largest club. With it being the SeOne, there are also going to be some top-notch DJs and live acts performing; and here’s the thing: It’s FREE! Ay Curamba! Before we go into all the boring info on just how you can get your mitts on FREE tickets, Planet Notion presents the “Bacardi-B Live presents La Fiesta” line-up: The undisputable champion of beatboxing - or at the very least one of the nation’s favourites, Beardyman will be making the trip to SeOne. So too one of the finest and most in demand turntablists on the circuit, DJ Yoda. The legendary DJ Food will also head to “Bacardi-B Live presents La Fiesta” along with the genre-bending Filthy Dukes, splicing electro with sweet pop and subtle rock. Add breaksmiths Evil Nine and Krafty Kuts, along with the Cubans’ favourite music in the form of Jazz Bomb (LIVE) and you’ve already got enough to cause extreme creaminess in your pants! But the fun doesn’t stop there. Sean Rowley will be bringing Guilty Pleasures along for some poptastic electro. Being the kind souls we are, Planet Notion is giving away a pair of “Bacardi-B Live presents La Fiesta” tickets to one lucky winner. For your chance of winning CLICK HERE . To be in with a chance of joining the party, sign-up on the “Bacardi-B Live presents La Fiesta” website by CLICKING HERE .
