The End is offering a night of revelry for drum n’ bass fiends on April 11th as living legend Fabio takes on the ‘original night of liquid funk’ Swerve. Fabio is renowned for his bangin’ all-night sets, having pioneered the scene in the 90s with epic sets at Rage and Speed. Hmm… Rage and Speed; wouldn’t like to meet someone with those two traits in a dark alley. Anyway, the godfather of drum n bass will be teaming up with a whole host of artists from his Creative Source label as well as pounding ears with a four hour, YES four hour set! This is truly a rare thing in the d n’ b world and should give Fabs the chance to show us his true worth. He’ll be joined by the beautiful sounds of Calibre, who, after releasing his debut album on Creative Source in 2001, has gone on to rule the liquid d n’ b roost with a little help from the mighty Marcus Intalex. New talent Lynx will also be demonstrating why he’s undoubtedly become one to watch in 2008 after the release of his tempo-destroying anthem ‘Disco Dodo’ last year. Having plied their trade for the past fifteen years, masters of the ‘rave anthem’ Total Science will be making up the numbers in the main room, whilst Fats and Rage will be taking to the mic for some sweet rhyming skills. Over in the lounge a succulent selection of Swerve’s superb spin-doctors will be shaking booty and spinning a steamy soundscape of sound, plus all the Swerve residents under one roof as Bailey, Flight, Chris Intaface, Tendai, Aaron Jay and original beatsmith DJ Addiction take to the decks. Truly an event to get all real heads moist, expect something other than your usual “YOU SAY RAVER, I SAY BO!” action. Basically, smooth as fuck. Creative Source vs. Swerve Friday 11th April 2008 10pm – 6am The End, 16a-18 West Central St, London, WC1A 1JJ www.endclub.com / www.ticketweb.co.uk

Chew the Fat! Have announced a “festival in a club” style fundraising event for one of the pioneers of the breakbeat scene. Founding father of Chew the Fat! Paul ‘Trouble’ Arnold was diagnosed with leukaemia last year and in honour of the dance scene great all and sundry will be turning up to show off their subliminal skills. It’s set to be like Woodstock, only instead of a psychedelic rock and folk festival, Troublestock will be taking place in the cool surroundings of London’s The End club and featuring all things dance! The main room, AKA and the lounge area will represent different scenes as incorporated in Chew the Fat’s history, from past to present. Just like the Ice-Cream counter at Pizza Hut one can pick and choose from sweet breakbeat goodness, a juicy dollop of house, or a mish-mash of every conceivable sound you’ve ever dreamed of. Mmmm… nutritious! In the main room there’ll be more than just beats a-breaking as Bristolian duo and all-round badboys the Stanton Warriors take on breakbeat big-hitters the Plump DJs. Both are huge on the breakbeat circuit, the Stanton Warriors garnering global recognition with international tours and the Plump DJs notoriety with ever-mounting commercial success - they’re played on the radio and everything! Plus it’s going to be the first time either posse have gone head to head – a Chew the Fat! exclusive! It’s like, totally double mental and stuff! Also, Kutting his proverbial mustard in the main room, will be DJ/producer Krafty Kuts taking on the big-band of breakbeat the Freestylers crew. Other highlights will include Atomic Hooligan taking on Soul of Man, Tayo, Evil Nine, Tom Real and Elite Force. Wowzers! Meanwhile AKA will be bringing funky-pumping-house to the masses in the shape of Italo-disco luminary Serge Santiago and king of the castle (house) Rob da Bank (house). AND the ruddy Cuban Brothers will be at The End – in London - with an exclusive live set! We’re talking festival-filling royalty of royally epic proportions; stripping and spinning and generally going mental! Finally, over in the Lounge, master of the remix Kissy Sell Out will be puckering up to bring a barrage of all-round electro par’ excellence while Herve’s alter-ego the Count of Monte Cristal will be on hand to spin, mix and generally bus’ up the place. Funky-beatsmith A-Skillz will be in a three-way stand-off with both the Dub Pistols and Drum Monkeys in a scene akin to Clint Eastwood, that Mexican dude and Lee Van Cleef in the Good the Bad and the Ugly. There’s nothing ugly about Chew the Fat! though; it’s gonna be sexier than Kate Moss in a pink TuTu, sucking on a Nestle Fab and rolling in a pool of filth! All proceeds from the night will go towards Paul’s road to recovery. This alone should be reason to attend Troublestock… the fact that Chew the Fat! have drafted in such a face-and-mind fuck of fantastic talent is merely a Brucey bonus. “Now, didn’t they do well”! Man, it sucks; the older you get the more time flies. Before you know it you’re wearing dentures and sitting in a rocking chair, sipping Bovril and watching re-runs of Murder She Wrote. In the case of Mulletover’s fourth birthday any “sense of getting old” doesn’t really matter because it’s a ruddy good excuse for a party! As far as throwing a bloody good night goes Mulletover have been at the forefront for the last four years. No one and I mean no one knows how to take the party to spacious warehouses and abandoned car-parks like the Mulletover crew and their band of loyal followers. Anyway, to celebrate this iconic moment (or just as an excuse for a mad one) the Mulletover contingent are presenting a “history of house music”. Room One unleashes ‘Back to the Future’, taking a look at the current sounds on the house scene with artists new and old alike. With 2008 marking the twentieth anniversary of A Guy Called Gerald’s Hacienda classic Voodoo Ray, which highlights just how synonymous the man is across a multitude of electronic genres. A Guy Called Gerald has toyed with everything from acid-house to jungle in his illustrious career and at Mulletover’s fourth birthday he’ll be unleashing a live-set, full to the brim with fresh material. This is most definitely one NOT TO BE MISSED! Owner of Intacto records Shinedoe, a lady fast becoming a scene-setter with her distinct and fresh techno sounds, will also be present in Room one. Adam Shelton will be joining Mulletover for a second time whilst the man, the myth, the legend that is DJ Geddes won’t exactly be making up the numbers, but blasting out some serious tech-house love following the launch of Murmur Records. Room two will be taking you ‘Back To The Old Skool’ with a wee lesson in the origins of dance. So you can expect the legendary DJ Pierre to make the trip from the US of A. Allow us to take you ‘Back To The Old Skool’ with a lesson in the history of acid house. Basically, DJ Pierre was one of the - if not the pioneer - of the scene, releasing the first record of its ilk: Phuture ‘Acid Tracks’. Expect Pierre to take you on one hell of a trip, exploring the roots of his sound as well as showcasing his interpretation of the scene today. Add to this Trevor Fung, who hosted the first raves alongside Paul Oakenfold with Kurrage and Mr Shiver delivering a lesson in the landscape of dance music culture. It’s kind of like being at secondary-school, only rather than learning about the Spanish Civil War you’re gyrating like a randy gibbon, downing an alcoholic beverage and listening to bangin’ tunes. Mulletover’s 4th Birthday Saturday 29th March 10pm - 6am Secret Warehouse Location Tickets: £8 - £12 Advance tickets from www.ticketweb.co.uk For further information contact/visit: +44 (0) 7943 971 924 / www.mulletover.co.uk / www.myspace.com/mulletoverclub

A little bit of deviation never hurt anyone. I mean, change is good; if you do the same thing week in week out you’ll only find your soul being drained away, like man-juice up the nasal cavity of a sexually depraved Henry the Hoover. Anyway, Deviate is the kind of night to go to if you fancy a break from the norm… Unless you’re a huge fan of dub, reggae, ska and the like, in which case you won’t really be deviating at all. Anyway, Deviate’s heading to Brick Lane’s 93 Feet East and they’re bringing the ‘vanguard of dub’ along with them; that’s the Iration Steppas Soundsystem to you and I. It’s not without reason that Iration Steppas have grown into one of England’s biggest, most notorious soundsystems. The boys have been spinning their dub, reggae riddims for eighteen years; we’re talking the kind of shit that you can skin-up and chill-out to, or grind and groove to, or just proper skank to, in equal measure. That’s not all. Supporting Iration Steppas will be twenty-one year old dubstep luminary Benga. Benga’s practically dubstep royalty, we’re talking the bonnie prince Charlie of the dubstep world, except with smaller ears and killer half-step beats and basslines. Furthermore, Benga’s from Croydon, which is really fucking ghetto, as I should know being an old Croydonian myself. Having released his first groundbreaking EP, with minimal electro grooves and bass-beaten dub delicacies, when he was only sixteen years old, Benga continues to astonish and astound with his subliminal skills. Live ten piece drum ‘n’ bass ‘slash’ dub-electro outfit, Gentleman’s Dub Club, will also be setting the scene with a “you’ve gotta see this shit man it’s fucking mental” live-set, whilst the likes of Exodus, Sidewinder and MC Oxman will be making up the bill. There's also a secret warehouse after party, Jamaican infused food and a live courtyard graf show taking place… So go on, show some love; ditch your plans and Deviate. “RDDM SPELLS RIDDIM!!” DEVIATE PRESENTS: IRATION STEPPAS SOUNDSYSTEM BENGA + GENTLEMAN'S DUB CLUB EXODUS + SIDEWINDER & MC OXMAN MAN MAKE MUSIC DJ’s + DJ EXEL Saturday29 th March 8:00PM - 3:00AM 93 Feet East 150 Brick Lane London , E1 6QL 8:00PM - 3:00AM £7 (otd) www.seetickets.com (adv)

Thugs and Hugs. Two choice words that hardly go together. I mean, whoever heard of an armed robber or a renowned thief embracing like long lost souls? Alas, we’re not talking about Lotto louts or muggers here, oh no, we’re talking about the dub-step drenched, bassline banging, garage glistening, and hip-hop heavy ‘Thugs and Hugs 1st Birthday Reload’. HOLLAH! 2007 saw the likes of Toddla T, Zombie Disco Squad, Brother Reade, and Squeak E Clean grace Thugs and Hugs, and this event in London will be no different. Oh no, in fact, some would argue it’s oozing with just as much goodness, if not more. Hailing from the highlands, Drums of Death will be bringing electro, grime and soul to Thugs and Hugs. Interestingly, the Scot was inspired by vaudeville theatre (freak shows and burlesque and the like), as well as his time spent in death metal bands. Anyway, Drums of Death has been delving into acid-hip-hop-and-grime-electro as of late, which sounds fan-fucking-tastic, and he’s signed to Greco-Roman Records of Hot Chip notoriety, which is just as groovy. DJ Producer DJ GS will also be heading to Old Street. If you didn’t already know, DJ GS is the bassline king and he just loves “stinking fucking basslines” man! In fact, if DJ GS was a Mafiosi he’d be the Don Corleone of the bassline world, the rest of the Northern Line posse his 'soldiers'. DJ Smutlee, meanwhile, is a local London talent who brings a whole host of old style club music and future hits to his sets. The DJ has been championed by just about everybody on the dance circuit. We’re talking Kiss FM, Dirty Canvas, Sinden, Yo Yo and of course Thugs and Hugs, which says a hell of a lot about his subliminal skills. Young and Positive will be playing “wobbly as fuck” Jamaican 7”s, bass-skank floor-fillers and ragga grooves, wearing his customary street clobber. Oh yeah, the lads got style. And bringing something a little different to the night will be Karborn, the precocious London-based fine artist who puts on visual displays of biblical proportions. We’re talking some mad, mad digitals here, man; I mean Karborn’s worked with the likes of Nike, XL Recordings and Talib Kweli. Let’s face it; music without a visual show is like taking a shit without literature. It’s not the same, and when it’s good, you stick with the show a lot longer. Alas, Thugs and Hugs co-creators and co-founding resident DJs PatchWorK Pirates and DJ Gigolo “The Mixx” Knight will be on hand, blowing out the candles and receiving the bumps as a year in the life of Thugs and Hugs reaches a climax. Thugs and Hugs 1st Birthday Reload In association with: Addict Clothing & Drink Moloko Easter Sunday 23rd March 8pm - 3.00am The Legion 348, Old Street London EC1V 9NQ Tickets: £3 (A BARGAIN!)

The Long Good Friday officially rocks. No, not the film (although the film does officially rock) but the upcoming Long Good Friday being put-on by Death to All Culture Snitches (DTACS) at 12 Acklam Road. Rather than the usual, run-of-the-mill bog-standard night, this one’s going to be on until, like, six in the morning! Plus, Riton, Spektrum, Chrome Hoof, and Mock n’ Toof are gonna be there. Which is officially superb! Riton’s been a player in the electro field for the last decade with releases on all manner of labels, like Grand Central, Get Physical, and Klang. Yeah, man, Riton’s got the skills! Not only is the DJ slash Musician one half of the much-heralded Gucci Sound System, but alone he’s a wizard on the decks, as anyone who came to Notion’s first Stand and Point will testify. Riton rocks and that’s official! Mock n’ Toof bring a heavy dose of disco electro to the fray; we’re talking some unusual shit right here, a trippy semi-psychedelic sound not experienced since George and Zippy and Bungle sang Wuthering Heights on Rainbow circa 88. Anyway, rather than rabbit on, we’ll leave things there… Anyway they’re officially great! South-East London quartet Spektrum are considered one of the best live acts of their ilk. I could probably end there, but it’s worth noting that their electro funk gem, 'Death At The Gymkhana Club' is being rereleased as a double CD featuring the likes of DJ T, New Young Pony Club and Chrome Hoof. Which brings us nicely onto… Chrome Hoof because he’ll be at 12 Acklam Road as well. He too officially ROCKS! Finally, DTACS founding fathers Alexx & Henry, and Scandinavian electro luminary Olanskii, will be DJing. Forget Good Friday, this is Fantastic Friday. Yeah, DTACS is brilliant, and that's an official FACT! 21st March 2008 Death to All Culture Snitches 10pm - 6am 12 Acklam Road , London , W10 Tickets: £10

Lock n Load are firing DJ luminaries at yah from all angles on Easter Sunday with an exclusive show at Camden’s KOKO, featuring the dancefloor grooves of Swedish House Mafia’s Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso and Axwell. The Swedish House Mafia (SHM) is a somewhat fitting name for the boys, what with a style that makes Ikea look like Poundstretcher, a unique sound and their geographical location. If you’re looking for solid-proof of their ability, then read-on and weep! Firstly, there’s Steve Angello whose compilations (including his Subliminal Sessions mix), killer singles and remixes for the likes of Moby, Royksopp and Goldfrapp have had hips a’shaking and bones a’grinding for donkeys years. Not only that, but record label Size is one of the front-runners on the house scene; no mean feat in these days of wank-compilation overload! Anyway, Steve’s résumé doesn’t end there, oh no. Balancing his label with a residency at Ministry, Mr. Angello’s latest sample creation delves into the groovy realms of funk and soul. ‘Buy Now – Bodycrash’ is a colab between Angello and fellow SHM member Sebastian Ingrosso. It’s so ruddy great Erol Alkan has made his own edit of the groove-tinged number, which is kind of like Gordon Ramsey referring to you as ‘big boy’, complementing you on your Shepherd’s Pie and sprinkling it with some fresh black pepper. I love food analogies. When you get the SHM together it’s a different ball-game entirely. Sebastian Ingrosso, along with Angello, has played at iconic venues including Ibiza’s Pacha, whilst Axwell is one of the most in demand re-mixers around. His reworkings include Faithless, Nelly Furtado, Pharrell and Hard-Fi; so you do the math! Oh, and fellow member Henrik B, will be offering support with some gut-busting ‘techno-techno-techno’! Finally, Queenz of Noize will be bringing their monster mash-ups to KOKO, supplying the masses with all manner of mental manifestations. The fun’s never ending with Lock n Load; we’re talking “Lock, Stock the fuckin’ lot!’ Easter Sunday doesn’t get any better! Lock n Load Sunday March 23rd 10pm - 6am Koko, 1a Camden High Street, London . NW1 7JE Limited Early Bird Tickets: £20 Standard Tickets: £25 Advance Tickets: www.ticketweb.co.uk

ILUVLIVE is making its way to Cargo, right on the doorstep of Notion Towers, in super-funky Shoreditch. If you haven’t been, it’s great, and that’s just ILUVLIVE. Oh, yeah, brace yourself, because these pioneers of fresh urban talent don’t beat about the bush. Or do things by half. Or… Whatever! Having gone down a storm last year in places as far and wide as Manchester, Bristol and Birmingham, ILUVLIVE have already had some amazing shows in ’08. Like we say, they don’t beat about the bush. The Cargo event will be hosted by 1Xtra’s Ras Kwame and Twin B, delivering the best, and we mean best, in hotly tipped talent. Confirmed acts include Island Record’s up-and-coming ‘inyourfacelikeaknuckleduster’ talent Taio Cruz, and Bashy, whose ‘Black Boys’ remix is ruddy great and whose ‘Chupa Chups’ mixtape is much-loved in hip-hop circles. Yeah, and he’s touring with Lethal Bizzle later in the year, so you just know he’s a bit special. Also performing will be beatbox supremo Faith SFX (accompanied by artists from Alwayz Recordings), Manchester resident and Irish luthario Skittles, Bristol’s Cassette Baby, Claire Angel, and jazzy roots musician Mellow Baku. Keep your eyes on Mellow, trust us, she’s one to watch… Oh, and in true ILUVLIVE spirit an exclusive guest will be headlining. And it’s at Cargo. And it should be good. And so, you should probably go… ILUVLIVE at Cargo Monday 10th March 7.30pm – 1am Cargo, 83 Rivington St, London EC2 3AY Tickets: £6 (adv) £8 (otd) www.ticketwebb.co.uk

When daffs rise like phallic symbols from England’s pastoral land, and blossom in a sea of yellow, you just know its March. We love March, and so should you, for not only is it a beautiful month but it marks Wax:On’s descent upon Newcastle’s Digital. Which is, well, also beautiful. This time round Wax:On welcome break heroes Plump DJs to the fold. Messrs Andy Gardner and Lee Rous have grabbed break-beat by both arms, pulled it apart limb by limb, and mixed it with every electro-genre you could possibly imagine. Not only do the boys have break-beat fans bowing down in honour, but the majority of the dance fraternity as well. The Bucharest Bomber, Rhadoo, has exploded onto the techno scene in the last eighteen months, blowing DC10’s Circo Loco away in Ibiza as well as dancefloors nationwide. As part of RPR Soundsytem, alongside Raresh and Pedro, Rhadoo is already well-known by tech-heads the world over. However, on his own, the Bomber’s sets are a different ballgame altogether. Oh yeah! A performance at Wax:On will be a mind-blowing experience. Leeds lads Audiojacks will liven the night up with their usual array of bleeps and basslines. Having signed to Ralph Lawson’s 2020 Vision label, playing underground sets the world-over, the boys offer a Berty Bassett assortment of delineate house, techno and electro. Whilst Wax:On regulars, People Get Real, will be supplying the soundtrack to a night of dirt, dance and debauchery. Wax on or Wax off? Wax:On! If giving the rave-up ‘massif’ an event to go to in the land of "sheep and leeks" wasn’t enough, the kindly souls of Goodgreef are also throwing a monster mash-up in Preston tahn. You lucky swines! All-nighters are the bee’s knees, unless you’re the sort of person whose face is buried in a copy of the ‘Da Vinci Code’ at eight o’clock at night, asleep by ten and up at seven for your daily dose of all-grain muesli. At that time, the Goodgreef fraternity will be heading home, blurry eyed and buzzing like a bluebottle. Goodgreef’s launch night at Cardiff’s evolution was a raucous affair; debauched, certainly, and ruddy brilliant to boot. On March 1st they’ll be pushing the boundaries of dance-music even further, with Cardiff offering live performances from DJ luminaries nationwide. We’re talking Ireland’s Brian Kearney, Scotland’s Barry Connell, and a lashing of blistering hard-dance from Zany and Proteus. Plus, of course, a bucketload of resident DJs and local Welsh talent. Oh, yeah! As aforementioned, Preston’s 53 Degrees will also be welcoming a shed load of DJ innovators for Goodgreef. Yes, on the same date as Cardiff’s shindig (March 1st) the likes of Sander Van Doorn will be taking dance its limit with a storming set. So too German legend Scot Project, mixing and mashing trance, dance, electro incarnations for the baying attendees. Oh, and anyone touted as “one of the hottest producers in the world” by Mr. Paul van Dyk gets our nod, so you’ll be beaming at news that John O’Callaghan will be spinning his stuff. Yet again, Preston will welcome resident DJs and local heroes to the helm, for what’s sure to be a night of pure ecstasy. Goodgreef, I just creamed my pants!
