If giving the rave-up ‘massif’ an event to go to in the land of "sheep and leeks" wasn’t enough, the kindly souls of Goodgreef are also throwing a monster mash-up in Preston tahn. You lucky swines! All-nighters are the bee’s knees, unless you’re the sort of person whose face is buried in a copy of the ‘Da Vinci Code’ at eight o’clock at night, asleep by ten and up at seven for your daily dose of all-grain muesli. At that time, the Goodgreef fraternity will be heading home, blurry eyed and buzzing like a bluebottle. Goodgreef’s launch night at Cardiff’s evolution was a raucous affair; debauched, certainly, and ruddy brilliant to boot. On March 1st they’ll be pushing the boundaries of dance-music even further, with Cardiff offering live performances from DJ luminaries nationwide. We’re talking Ireland’s Brian Kearney, Scotland’s Barry Connell, and a lashing of blistering hard-dance from Zany and Proteus. Plus, of course, a bucketload of resident DJs and local Welsh talent. Oh, yeah! As aforementioned, Preston’s 53 Degrees will also be welcoming a shed load of DJ innovators for Goodgreef. Yes, on the same date as Cardiff’s shindig (March 1st) the likes of Sander Van Doorn will be taking dance its limit with a storming set. So too German legend Scot Project, mixing and mashing trance, dance, electro incarnations for the baying attendees. Oh, and anyone touted as “one of the hottest producers in the world” by Mr. Paul van Dyk gets our nod, so you’ll be beaming at news that John O’Callaghan will be spinning his stuff. Yet again, Preston will welcome resident DJs and local heroes to the helm, for what’s sure to be a night of pure ecstasy. Goodgreef, I just creamed my pants! Goodgreef Cardiff Saturday 1st March 9pm-6am @ Evolution Nightclub, Red Dragon Centre, Hemmingway Road , Cardiff Bay £15 advance MOTD www.evocardiff.com Room 1 - Sander van Doorn, Giuseppe Ottaviani Live, Mark Norman, Barry Connell, Bryan Kearney, Jordan Suckley, Steve Hampton b2b James Clark Room 2 – Zany, Proteus, Dark By Design, BK, Rob Davies, Stu Grady, Argy Goodgreef Saturday 1st March 9.30pm-3.30am @ 53Degrees, Brook Street , Preston , PR1 2TQ £12 NUS / £14 / MOTD www.53degrees.net The Venue, Sander Van Doorn, Scot Project, John O’Callaghan, Matt Everson, The Club – Electro House Local Heroes, Paul Flintoff, Michael Godsmark, Paul Calvy b2b Dutton, James Ryan

You better be quick if you wanna catch this one - real quick. February 22nd (this Friday) sees Death to All Culture Snitches (DTACS) return to its spiritual home of Acklam Road, where resident and guest DJs plan to pummel the winter blues away with a dose of cross-pollinating electro wizardry. French producer Joakim will be setting the tone by going all experimental on the partying masses. You know the score; a bit clubby, bit jazzy, the usual electro flair thrown into the whole sha-bang? In a nutshell, good shit. The French magician has recently been touring with his Ectoplasmic Band, working on a new album, and remixing Gucci Soundsystem’s ‘A Carpenter’. Basically, our friend from across the border’s been a very busy bee. DTACS founding fathers, Allex and Henry, will be pumping some heavy beatery, alongside an import from Scand i navia’s biggest electro/disco/techno mash-up: Sunkissed regular Olanskii. Look out for future DTACS nights as and when on Planet Notion. Death to All Culture Snitches www.myspace.com/deathtoallculturesnitches 22nd February 2008 10pm - 6am 12 Acklam Road , London , W10 Tickets: £10.00

A call to arms for the capital’s house-heads: Shiva is kicking-off it’s residency at The Island on February 23rd, delivering the crème de la crème of funky, dirty house, and electro beats. Soul Avengerz will be spinning their yarn, delivering the tickety-top in uplifting house at Shiva’s latest and rather plush abode… Well, plush by this here pauper’s standards anyway. The Soul Avengerz are quite a name on the ‘ol circuit, so if house floats your boat then sail it down to The Island, baby, and enjoy the friggin’ ride. Joining the boys will be luminaries including Liam D, John Paul and Muzz Khan. Shiva doesn’t mess about though, oh no, they’re only too aware of the penetrable realms of the house game… Hence why they’ve reeled-in the biggest catch imaginable in the dirty electro field, Kiss FM’s Steve Smart. Guaranteed to have the masses a-bumping and a-grinding, with a royal stamp of approval, Steve will be joined by a wealth of talent including Jordan Brown, Master K, and Dave Penn. You’ll have no trouble finding The Island as Mr. Panda, symbol of the club night, will be ‘cotching’ near Charing Cross station, pointing weary travelers towards Shiva’s new home of uplifting house, debauchery and dance. The Bloom Festival makes a welcome return in the summer but not before a pre-festival warm-up tour (much needed in this ruddy weather) kicking off on March 8th. Yes, yes, and double YES, a stellar line-up of acts and DJs will be bringing all the fun of the fair, well, festival, to Camden’s KOKO. Two of the finest DJs North of the border, who spin their shiznit in the DJing hub of Manchester; Elektrons will be bringing their uber-funky beats to England’s capital. Justin Crawford and Luke Cowdrey’s latest venture delves into the realms of nu-soul, just about crushing every other electro-genre in their path. Take last year’s Bloom performance, a mish-mash of acid-house, disco, soul and funk. Yes, please! A behemoth of beatsmiths, and no stranger to the ‘ol Bloom fraternity, ‘Cagebaby’ Tom Gandey will be making the not-so-distant trip from the South coast to KOKO. So too will Super Nashwan, an underground clan made-up of manic scouse rhythm, gospel singers, a hot & hard-hitting femme fatale drummer, and mind-blowing slide-guitar courtesy of Johnny Nashwan. ‘Sea Sick Steve’ is a fan… Which says far more than this lowly hack could ever dream of… Riton, he who has been added to Notion’s ‘Stand and Point’ roster-de-roster (Cargo 15th of March), will be making waves with one of his much-fabled, groundbreaking live-shows. The up-and-coming DJ has collaborated with some of the crème-de-la-crème on the circuit, has his own record label (Switch), and is fast becoming a prominent figure on the ‘ol DJing circuit. Go see, go see, GO SEE! Oh, and topping shenanigans off, with something a little bit different on zee night, will be the London Breakbeat Orchestra. If ever evidence was needed that there’s more to orchestral instruments than meets the eye, this posse of thirty virtuosos’s put the pudding in the proof. Turntablists, FX, and killer grooves all add to the fascinating spectacle. Naturally, DJ luminaries Neil Thornton and Johnny Hiller will be hosting one of KOKO’s bars along with Richard Sen’s Padded Cell Outfit. Tis tantalising! As I’m sure you’ll agree, the night will sow the seeds for the Blooming summer ahead, in what’s certain to be another friggin’ fantastic year for Bloom. Bloom on Tour 2008 @ KOKO, London (tube: Camden) 8th March Time: 9pm - 3am £12.00 + booking fee / £14.00 on the door www.ticketweb.co.uk http://bloomfestival.com/

Two months into 2008 and the kings and queens of raving are back in force. We’re not talking a push or a shove here, we’re talking Cupid’s arrow - ‘zzzip’ - straight through the frontal lobes, as Mulletover presents their Anti-Valentines Party! Picked-up by Dial Records and setting the underground scene alight and with one of the outstanding LPs of 2007 under his belt, Efdemin is hitting Mulletover at their secret hush-hush location for some outstanding experimental techno action. The renowned DJ will be joined by Sian; born in Dublin, raised gypsy style in Spain, this boy will bring you some fresh dubsided avant-garde badness! Sian ’s commitment to his art, accompanied with manic sets and blazing skills behind the decks, have led to this luminary creating his own label… Octopus. Put simply, this double-header in top-secret surroundings has ‘brain’ and ‘frazzled’ written all over it with a 9H pencil. And you wanna know what? Mulletover ain’t finished yet! T-Bar luminary Gower Ramsey, the man behind the Shoreditch venue’s revered Ditched Disco, will be recreating the usual (and by no means ordinary) buzz, soul and drive of his Friday night sets. The second room will make way for the infamous DFA, with guests including Gucci Soundsystem (Riton and Ben Trucker), who have remixed for the likes of LCD Soundsystem and Tiefschwarz. Expect diverse, twisted-disco; steam-rolling its way through electro merriment and beyond. Finally DFA’s very reverand Shit Robot, (along with James Murphy, a true pioneer of the NY dance scene) will be joined by new signings Mock and Toof. Alternative, psychedelic and disco mash-ups a-plenty! No need to mull this one over is there? Mulletover looks set to retain its crown as the mother of all underground parties! Main – Efdemin (Dial) Sian (Octopus) Gower Ramsey (Ditched Disco) Geddes Room 2 – DFA presents Death From Abroad Gucci Sound System / Ben Trucker & Riton Shit Robot (DFA) Mock n Toof (DFA) Mulletover: Anti Valentine’s Party! There’s nothing quite as tantalizing and alluring as the sweaty, throbbing masses following an all-nighter. Hence our excitement as the ‘Remix All-Nighter’ heads to the vault-like arches of London’s SeOne. The Remix is XFM’s only nationally broadcast specialist music show, which goes some way to explaining its growing appeal to dance luminaries the country over; from Lands End to John O’Groats. Hosted by Eddy Temple-Morris, master of the debauched and bringer of genre-hopping electro, the Remix guarantees a gurning throng of jumping, singing, dancing Hell-Cats and Heavenly-Pussys. The Easter Thursday installment promises to be a good’n. You want three main arenas hosted by a who’s who of talent? SeOne’s got it baby! Not only will their be top-DJs from Ninja Tune Records and The Remix, but Phil Hartnoll (co-founder of dance music pioneers Orbital) will be delivering a five-hour DJ and VJ set, showcasing tracks from his new project Long Range. Representing Ninja Tune, who claim this will be their stand-out party of ’08, Bonobo will be bringing everything in his repertoire from breakbeat, hip-hop, funk and soul. Not only are Ninja Tune offering you this DJ luminary, but they’ve added Coldcut and DJ Food & DK to the line-up as well. Not one to be outdone, Remix is pulling out all the stops; dragging electro superstar Vitalic into the fray for an exclusive live-set, along with emerging stars The Whip and Ed Banger’s main-man Busy P. My oh my; the prospect of this Easter treat far exceeds the sensual feeling and sweet, sweet flavour a chocolate egg could ever bring to the palate! Roll-on Remix, roll-on. Easter Thursday March 20 th 9.30pm – 5am SeOne Club, Weston Street, London Bridge, London, SE1 3QX Tickets: £9.50 (adv) £7.00 (NUS) www.ticketweb.co.uk www.myspace.com/theremix www.leylinepromotions.com

Notion Magazine and Planet Notion have their collective chests puffed out, a grin upon their face like Mr. Blair on a ‘happy’ trip, and a foot tap-tap-tapping away to contain their mounting excitement. Why, you may ask, are the combined forces of Notion so giddy with anticipation? Well soldiers, chest-out; back straight; and prepare yourself to STAND AND POINT in an orgasmic spasm of electro-fantasia! Yep-yep-yep, Notion Magazine and Planet Notion are proud to be launching their brand-spanking new bi-monthly club night, kicking off at renowned East-end venue Cargo on Friday 15th February. Skippety-boo-bopping to Cargo with a pinch of fidget-house, a dollop of German blip-hop, a touch of electro-goth and some Italo-disco via Hackney, Notion will be bringing you the A1 in European electro talent. As well as their very own resident DJs, Planet Head and Tony Underground; yeah, baby, yeah! First-up with beats as sick as creamed-piccalilli and basslines as phat as Jo-Brand’s waistline, will be the Count of Monte Cristal; the Voodoo Chilli himself: Hervé. One of the most in demand DJs and producers around, Hervé has remixed for dance-luminaries The Chemical Brothers, UnkleJam and New Young Pony Club - for the purists, this means he’s tippety-top of his game. If the dark and macabre is more up your street, look no further than the electro-goth of The Black Ghosts. Cracking their creative bonces smack, bang against each other, Simon Lord of Simian fame and DJ Touché’s latest venture have been giving the club-scene a reason to STAND AND POINT up and down the country. Haunting poetry? Check. Gut-retching electro-rave? Skull and bones imagery? Oh yes! Reverberating with a rich stew of blip-hop, ragga and electro rudeness, and one of the most hectic acts to emerge from the growing Berlin scene, Jahcoozi will be tickling the taste-buds with an exclusive live-set. Made-up of quick-fire in-your-face lyricist MC Sasha Perera, the mind-blowing Robot Koch’s beats and bleeps and Baba Massive’s awesome musical scores, Jahcoozi will leave you dizzy like a Benzedrine-daydream. When the moon hits the sky, like a big piece of pie, hit Cargo. For the Italo-greatness of dance luminary Serge Santiago is coming at ya. Beating his own path from London’s Hackney, right through to America and beyond, Serge has been dipping his fingers in far bigger pies than moon-pie. Remixing the likes of Kylie, Justin Timberlake and The White Stripes, and famed for his coloured vinyl re-edits of classic italo and disco tracks, Santiago is a delicately-wrapped prezzie from Notion to you. Of course, no event would be complete without Notion’s resident DJs, Planet Head and Tony Underground, bringing a whirlwind of skag-disco greatness for your delectation. Cancel the wedding, cash that cheque, put down your Camberwell Carrot and slap your face with a wet pike. Feeling better? Good. Now get yourself a-STANDing AND a-POINTing! My, my, my… Tempus Fugit. Time is running out my party darlings. Only two days left for this one. But what the hell; it’s Benji B making an eagerly anticipated return to London’s Gramophone; one of those rare occurrences when all plans are tossed aside in haste, making way for the granddaddy cool of 1xtra. Benji started off playing Sax as a nipper, kind of like a young John Coltrane, before hitting the decks and gaining notoriety and acclaim for his work on 1xtra and the Deviation Session - the very same Deviation Sessions that are taking place on the first Wednesday of every month all friggin’ year - ah, sweet music to my ears. Joining Benji-B on the decks will be producer, DJ and master of visual arts, Ge-Ology. The Brooklynite is renowned for crossing the barriers between different genres, effortlessly careering from one to the next. Furthermore, his résumé says it all. Tupac? Check. Mos Def? You betcha. Welsh songstress Jem? Ohhh-yes! The man has done it all! Expect Benji-B and Ge-Ology to blend some top tunes together at the Deviation Sessions. That means plenty of soul, a dollop of hip-hop, a sprinkle of dubstep, house, and all the trimmings. February 6th 2008 (First Wednesday of the month) 9pm – 2am Ge-Ology / Benji B (Deviation / 1xtra) / More TBC Gramaphone, 60 – 62 Commercial Street, London , EC2 Tickets: £5

Groove Armada are starting a brand-spanking new residency at The End. No lie, bruv, NO LIE! Tom Findlay and Andy Cato threw a number of one-off parties last year at the hallowed London club and such was success that the duo have been given a permanent home at The End. I on the other hand remain homeless. With Lovebox Presents: Bang the Box, Groove Armada are returning to their DJing roots - so expect them to spin, spin, SPIN their sweet-sounding yarn, for the yearning ears of The End faithful as the venue enters a new era. Rather than telling you what to look forward to I’ll let Mr. Tom Findlay do the talking: “We’re really looking forward to the new residency – it’s been a long time since we played regularly on the London club scene. For the first party I’m playing the main room – I love The End’s main room for its total chaos, being right in the middle of all that mania!” Who doesn’t love it when it gets manic? That’s music to our friggin’ ears! Tom will be bringing down the house, or rather, bringing the house to the masses in the lounge, whilst Andy Cato will be creating the party atmosphere we’ve come to know and love in The End’s main room. Naturally, we can expect the twosome to bring some brain-frying beats and banging-bass as a single entity as well. Joining Groove Armada at Bang the Box will be some of the hottest talent on the circuit, with resident DJs and special guests appearing for your eyes only. Digz of DIY fame, Rachel Barton (she of Radio 1 notoriety) and the Lovebox Allstars are just a few of the tantalizing treats on offer. For the February event, Def Mix legend Hector Romero will be joining the party alongside Manchester masters of genre-busting and genre-skipping, the Unabombers. AKA, meanwhile, will bring forth the legendary Nocturnal as well as The Shapeshifters, whose debauched nights are guaranteed to get the ‘ol toes tinkling. All in all, there’ll be three rooms full to the brim of happy tunes and happy people. YES BRUV! Lovebox presents ‘Bang The Box’ Saturday 9th February 2008 10pm – 7am The End and AKA 16 West Central, London , WC1A 1JJ Tickets: £12 (NUS) £10 (AKA only) £15 (Adv) £16 (otd) www.endclub.com www.ticketweb.co.uk

Sick! On the Dancefloor is returning with a Northern invasion of London’s SeOne. But have no fear; any hostility between ‘Southern Softies’ and ‘Northern Monkeys’ will be brushed aside by the heavy reverbs being generated. For Sick! Is fast becoming one of the Capital’s top nights of electro/house debauchery, where all and sundry are united through the power of the bass. Yes indeedy, North and South will collide at SeOne to beautiful effect. Leeds based supremoe’s of dance, Purrfect Electro, are heading down to Chas and Dave’s region of "Eels, Pies, Saveloys and Trotters" in an attempt to show us Southerners how dance is done. Purrfect Electro was launched almost two years ago at Club Mission in Leeds and has since blossomed into one of the hottest and filthiest nights on the dance circuit. The nation has taken note... Luminaries Micky Slim, Sebastian Leger, Martjin Ten Velden and Paul Jackson, are just a few of the faces who have brought beats to the masses at Purrfect Electro. So, expect the Northerners to bring a string of top talent to proceedings, in an attempt to show the Sick! crew how dirty house and electro are done "north utt’border". A host of Sick! DJs will be countering the invasion with their own phat beats, including new regular and a fella fast becoming a favourite at Sick! Ed Kane. Kane don’t do things by ‘alf, and as well as battling away with his Northern adversaries, he’ll be spinning his yarn in the Techrum, the home of underground, minimal tech house on the night. Joining Ed Kane will be young protégée Mark Ramsey. Anyone who’s anyone on the tech house scene will know of Ramsey’s rare ability to get social lepers off their arse; bouncing like a Spring lamb and gyrating with a stunner. Bass is a powerful tool my friends! Bass is a powerful tool! All in all there’ll be three rooms on the night, as well as the Techrum and the raucous main, there’ll be Flirty Fresco, with “big, phat funking house”. The Dirty Funkers, Funky soldiers and the irresistible Miss Divine, will be bringing you the tippety-top in pumping, funky house. SeOne… It’s just like Toys ‘R’ Us. There’s something for everyone all under one roof! Sick! On the Dancefloor present Purrfect Electro Saturday 2nd February 2008 SeOne Club, 41-43 St.Thomas Street Southwark, London, SE1 3QX Tickets: £10 (OTD)
