FRIDAY 8 JULY: Bass culture lovers the Crucial Business crew will be conducting a mash-up to shake up the west country when they welcome the almighty Soul Jazz Soundsystem to The Tube. Massive Attack hero Daddy G, Reggae’s first sister Queen Bee and genre-blender Mr Benn make up the Crucial Business family, and with the vibe they each bring to the (turn)table this night is sure to be a cracker. Fela Kuti, The Clash, Eek-A-Mouse and KRS -One are just some of the diverse tunesmiths that might get touted, so arrive with your mind open and your dancing shoes polished. JSTAR will be on board to get the reggae vibes rolling; expect names of this pedigree to be hooking up with Crucial Business when the night next returns. Booked in for a tri-monthly residency is the Soul Jazz Soundsystem, rocking the Bristolian bassbins with a heady mix of reggae, ska, hip hop, funk, soul, disco and raga jungle. Selecta! The Go! Team, Dirty Pretty Things, Kelis, We Are Scientists and The Twang are the final acts to be added to the Ibiza Rocks line up. They will join the likes of Kasabian, LCD Soundsystem, Arctic Monkeys and Hard-Fi at Manumission's Bar M in the San Antonio area of the island. The View and Rumblestrips kicked things off last month, with gigs set to run throughout the summer until September 11. SATURDAY 21 JULY: May's mulletover Bank Holiday party bought you masked-madness fun; raving day and night in a parking-lot-come-warehouse to Ivan Smagghe, Tobi Neumann, Will Saul and Geddes. On July 21st - having spent June doing parties in random Ibiza hill - mulletover are back in London town, bringing you mulletover favourite players old and new. Favourites Daniel Stefanik from Moon Harbour and Geddes make an appearance alongside techno brothers Plasmik playing live. Since France beheaded its monarchy and became a democracy 218 years ago, the National Day is being represented in a secret location in East London with an all French line up that will have monsieur’s and madame’s donning stripey jumpers and a string of onions. Known as Vive La France! The night will see exciting DJ/producer David K from FreaknChic pounding out the deep floor-fillers and cutting edge beats whilst La Noiraude and Stiff represent Dialect Recordings. *Girlcore* will also be thrown into the line up, with the frontwoman from 80s band Niagara, Muriel Moreno, doing her very first UK gig as a respected DJ alongside residents Isa GT and Cherise Got Loki. Headliner Hook n Sling makes his debut tonight weighing in with some phat beats from Australia, whilst dirty funksters Slyde bring classics to the main room. SEASON STARTS 6 JULY: Switch, X-Press 2 and Francois K have been confirmed to appear at Azuli nights in Ibiza this summer. Slam will headline the Opening Party on July 6 at the label’s new home of Space, which has just revealed details of their twelve dates in the White Isle. The night will take place every Friday with an unnamed special guest lined up to closing the parties in September, alongside label head David Piccioni (who will be playing most of the dates with Jo Mills). New venue Bar Azuli is set to open in Ibiza Town this year. SATURDAY 2 JUNE: Chibuku returns to its house roots this month as they bring in one of the world's leading house DJs to Herbal, the legendary Ralph Lawson. Ralph is the man who cranked out the first ever record at Leeds clubbing institution Back to Basics over 15 years ago and is also responsible for house label 20:20 Vision, which he set up in a deserted farmhouse in Yorkshire in the mid-nineties. Seen as a legend in many circles as a DJ and producer, his sound focuses squarely on the present and future, showcasing why he is one of the most forward thinking DJs around. Chibuku's esteemed residents take care of the rest of the venue, providing the soundtrack for one of the UK’s most up for it crowds.
