DISCOLEXIA featuring EBONY JONES and THE INVISIBLE, Cargo, April 18th
16/04/2008
This one’s fairly short notice - but hey, Rome wasn’t built in a day. Good things come to those who wait, as the old adage goes. The Discolexia series returns at London's Cargo on the 18th April (THIS FRIDAY) with a line-up to match it’s bloody brilliant name.

Ebony Jones, lauded as the 21st century’s answer to Grace Jones, will be showcasing her take on the DIY punk/dance aesthetic with tracks including “Don’t Fart on My Heart” and “We Know All About You”. Nice! We hear she’s phenomenal live, though don’t take our word for it! In fact, do take our word for it, our track record's as deep as the notches on Jodie Marsh’s bed-post. Radio 1’s Zane Lowe branded Ebony Jones as having the “hottest record in the world”. How’s that for a compliment?

The Invisible will also be heading to Cargo. The hotly tipped trio, signed to Accidental Records, saw their ‘Constant/Passion’ 7” flying off the shelves quicker than the talking Furby of Christmas ’98. Zane Lowe was clearly a Parrot in a former life because he dubbed second single ‘Monster’s Waltz’ as being the “Hottest Record in the World” as well...

The bands and artistes keep on rolling off the Discolexia conveyor belt. You could say they keep rolling off the ‘Atlantic Conveyor’ belt (enter canned laughter). 'Atlantic Conveyor' mix disco, dub and hip-hop to produce an ultra funky sound that’s garnered much respec’ from the likes of Gilles Peterson, Groove Armada and… erm… Zane Lowe.

Finally we’ve got 'New Chef'; who hasn’t exactly been ‘bigged up’ by Zane Lowe because, well, (drum roll please) it is Zane Lowe! We all know Zane’s credentials, his influence on the music scene (see above) et cetera et cetera… On the night he’ll be delving into “discoid punk funk” at Discolexia. There ain’t nothing Lowe ‘bout that!

So there we go. Discolexia; Zane Lowe taking on the world with an arsenal of bands and artistes and DJ sets that are guaranteed to destroy dancefloors the world over! Don’t take our word for it though; take the word of Zane Lowe. We hate to admit it, but his track record is even better than ours...
