The Long Good Friday officially rocks. No, not the film (although the film does officially rock) but the upcoming Long Good Friday being put-on by Death to All Culture Snitches (DTACS) at 12 Acklam Road.
Rather than the usual, run-of-the-mill bog-standard night, this one’s going to be on until, like, six in the morning! Plus, Riton, Spektrum, Chrome Hoof, and Mock n’ Toof are gonna be there. Which is officially superb!
Riton’s been a player in the electro field for the last decade with releases on all manner of labels, like Grand Central, Get Physical, and Klang. Yeah, man, Riton’s got the skills! Not only is the DJ slash Musician one half of the much-heralded Gucci Sound System, but alone he’s a wizard on the decks, as anyone who came to Notion’s first Stand and Point will testify. Riton rocks and that’s official!
Mock n’ Toof bring a heavy dose of disco electro to the fray; we’re talking some unusual shit right here, a trippy semi-psychedelic sound not experienced since George and Zippy and Bungle sang Wuthering Heights on Rainbow circa 88. Anyway, rather than rabbit on, we’ll leave things there… Anyway they’re officially great!
South-East London quartet Spektrum are considered one of the best live acts of their ilk. I could probably end there, but it’s worth noting that their electro funk gem, 'Death At The Gymkhana Club' is being rereleased as a double CD featuring the likes of DJ T, New Young Pony Club and Chrome Hoof. Which brings us nicely onto… Chrome Hoof because he’ll be at 12 Acklam Road as well. He too officially ROCKS!
Finally, DTACS founding fathers Alexx & Henry, and Scandinavian electro luminary Olanskii, will be DJing. Forget Good Friday, this is Fantastic Friday. Yeah, DTACS is brilliant, and that's an official FACT!
