STARTS 6 JULY: Madchester has always known how to keep the party vibes bubbling. Part of the city's International Festival this summer, Central will burst into an audiovisual wonderland to showcase some shit hot VJ and DJ talent. 10,000 revellers can enjoy a series of sets themed around Manchester's cultural and musical history, but at the same time fixed on its digitised future. Multi-media mosaics will send out the city's messages to starry-eyed ravers watching it all on a mother-sized screen over a whopping 40m wide. Good morning! Here's Friday's crowd pleasers: 2Many DJs, Bushwacka, DJ Shadow & Cut Chemist, Erol Alkan & Richard Norris, Gilles Peterson and Unabombers. How do'ya like them apples! And Saturday's wonders will be wrought by Carl Cox, David Morales, Erol (can't get enough!), Fatboy Slim, Frankie Knuckles, Laurent Garnier, Layo and Sasha, Phewf! Visual and creative direction will be by Todd Craft of Microchunk glory, The End's Layo Paskin directs the music and David Levy will be heading up production duties. Basically, you're in good hands.
