In case yall were wondering, the Notion-endorsed Hallowe'en party is...

[Drum roll / unnecessary parenthetical paragraph break for suspense.]

Night of the Dead - Tropical Soundclash! Soundway vs Sofrito face-off!

*Applause*

We can barely contain ourselves. Sofrito is a super hip world music warehouse party fandango set of guys operating straight outta Hackney, while Soundway Records are a Brighton-based label purveying only the finest, most accomplished and commercially suicidal compilations of supremely amazing post-war music from around the world - taking in Panama, Colombia, Ghana and more.

Do you want to know how much we love them? Well, in issue 40 we ran a big feature when then Culture Editor and now Big Editor MCL wrote about Soundway's amazing compilation of cumbia and stuff, Panama!2. Then, er, in issue 41 we interviewed Quantic! Who was in the midst of compiling, of all things, Panama!3. And finally, in issue 42 we reviewed Tumbélé! [It's on page 81 of the reader, FYI] in the most glowing of terms: "it is colourful, varied, restless, and most of all - irresistable."

It's Tumbélé! which has bred this clubnight: Sofrito member Hugo Mendez was the compiler of Tumbélé for Soundway.

So, ah, see you down there, yah?
