Oh! Art and music and music and art! Four of my favourite things and two of my favourite pairings. Rejoice baby, for the last in the series of San Miguel Hidden Depths events is hitting the Amersham Arms on September 18th...
The show will be curated by It’s Pop It’s Art, a collaboration between EMI Records and Airside, who take lyrics from songs and stuff and make them into funky prints. For those who don’t know, Airside is designer and DJ Fred Deakin’s design company. You know, the dude from Lemon Jelly?
So, basically, the final in the series of San Miguel Hidden Depths will be a visual delight, as well as a musical one. Cool, huh? Naturally, Deakin will be taking to the decks, where he’ll be joined by some very, very special guests.
We can reveal that one such guest is Sam Sparro, who’ll be delving into his usual bag of electrofunk, house and pop-tinged tunes. We can also reveal that Tom Middleton will be there too, where he’ll likely be joined by even more special guest peeps. And the exciting thing about the last installment of San Miguel Hidden Depths is that it’s absolutely FREE! More on that later…
It’s Pop It’s Art will also be announcing the winner of their design competition on the night. Entrants were asked to design an It’s Pop It’s Art style print based on the lyrics of late Soul singer Edwin Starr’s ‘War’. The competition doesn’t end until September 12th, which means you’ve still got eight days to enter! And who said we don’t know math. CLICK HERE for details
Speaking of the competition, San Miguel Brand Manager, Elena Iborra, commented: "The competition is a great addition to the San Miguel Hidden Depths event concept, allowing people to really get involved and experience the event on a new, interactive level. It also has the potential to kick start someone's design career which we're thrilled to be supporting." Indeed.
