‘At his feet we humbly fall, crown him, crown him DJ of all.’ Who is he in yonder stall (Remix).
Top London venue The End is having a New Years Eve battle of the DJs, with only a selected few being crowned kings of the electro-groove. Yep, some of The End’s most lauded and best-loved DJs are to be pitted against each other in one on one battles across the main room, lounge and AKA.
In the main room, and weighing in with a good two tonnes of raving lunacy, old friends of The End Layo and Bushwacka do their badass thing to get yo’ rumps a-movin’. Ahem. Signed up to the clubs esteemed label End Recordings, the boys have been plying their trade since the mid-nineties, treating the ears of the masses to their all-round mash-ups.
No stranger to tech-funk, techno and house music, these luminaries are by no means the bookies favourites. In fact it’s going to be a close run battle when they’re pitted against the Sancho Panza crew. Bringing the masses on an epic journey through all things hippety-house, Sancho Panza are known for playing everything from tiny warehouse gigs to the Notting Hill carnival. Let battle commence.
Hooouuuuse continues over at AKA with the Freerange label taking on Simple. Label bosses Jimpster and Will Saul will be squaring up with deep, emotional melodic house and techno and disco tunes. Jimpster will be mixing his seminal sound smack-BANG in the face of Mr. Saul, so expect much argy bargy from the house pioneers.
Finally, the Lovebox Allstars are up against the Rant DJs over in the lounge. However, we all know that ranting doesn’t win the war; it’s the raving that counts. The Rant DJs are renowned for throwing parties in all manner of establishments; from pubs to clubs, boats and even bowling alleys. More importantly, they’re notorious for their loyal following at The End. From big tunes to rare remixes; house to breaks and drum ‘n’ bass to disco, Lovebox Allstars and the Rant DJs have it all in their repertoire. Twill be tough to call!
‘Till we meet, till we meet, till we meet at The End’s feet, God be with you till we meet again.’ God be with you till we meet again (Remix).
