I’m feeling pretty low today; worse than yesterday, in a way. Yesterday my heart was beating like I was locked in a cage with a horny silver-back. Today’s the day when fatigue speeds in like the grim-reaper on a 200cc Harley Davidson. But fuck it, what does it matter, why complain? Just think how Fac 51 The Hacienda was back in the day, and how you’d be feeling today if you were part of that scene, and I guarantee you’d have a bastard behind the eyes ten-fold to what I feel at the moment. Still, bet it was fucking great though…
Thankfully, The Hacienda legend still lives on and is still going strong. On November 21st, The Hacienda tour will hit the southern seaside town of Brighton. Good news is that it’s easily accessible from London, so it should be a bloody great turn-out. It helps that the line-up is equally delectable.
Taking a cue from the Stonelove nights, which ran at The Hacienda from ‘95 to ‘97, music on the night will sway towards the indie sounds which produced so many Mancunian rock-stars of the period. Stonelove residents will mix indie records with dance beats, incorporating everything from techno and house, alongside P-Funk, Northern Soul and classics from the Madchester scene.
Peter Hook, of Joy Division and New Order fame, will join Bez from the Happy Mondays at Brighton’s Digital, which back in the day was the Brighton Zap Club, a contemporary of The Hacienda. And with fashion brand Bench sponsoring the tour, Hooky will also be playing a DJ set from 4pm to 6pm to celebrate the opening of Brighton’s first Bench store on North Street.
All in all, prepare to be transported into an alternative disco world of banging beats and rocking tunes.
