Terry Callier tour
02/04/2007
TOUR STARTS APRIL 3: Some musicians are simply too cool for school. They make the rest of the musicians out there look like miserably pathetic try-hards. Take Terry Callier for example. The man has a voice like molten chocolate being filtered through silk sheets into a martini glass by Audrey Hepburn. The man oozes sensuality and sophistication from every perfectly nuanced note he sings. Signed to the formidable Chess Records early on his career, the man pioneered the folk-jazz sound and created a genre defining record,‘What Color Is Love?’ in 1973. He went on to become a cult figure for a new generation of artists in the 90s. Working with the likes of Beth Orton, Koop, 4Hero, and more recently Massive Attack, Terry Callier is the bedrock upon which much of the more laidback grooves that came from this country since the mid-nineties have been built. Take the opportunity to catch him on this tour and increase your musical credibility in the eyes of your friends. Just don’t wear a roll neck if you do manage to bag yourself a ticket.
