Those of you in Berlin this week should consider the following: 1. in November, it will be 20 years since the Wall came down, presaging the end of the Cold War; 2. no, that is not a piece of the Wall you just bought from an 'interesting' looking man near Brandenburger Tor; 3. I don't care that he gave you a commemorative certificate of authenticity signed by Erich Mielke, Mielke wasn't in the habit of signing such things. You've been had. 4. Fun fact! Gorbachev actually thought that by opening the borders people would choose communism over the West. Bless 'im.
BUT MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL IS 5. Ladyhawke and Jean-Luc Godard of French Cinema's nouvelle vague Joe Goddard of Hot Chip shall be your sttylishly-clad DJesters for a night of chic amusements at the launch of Puma's Rudolf Dassler AW09 collection this coming Thursday in Berlin! Alongside them will be rubbish early noughties baseball comedy with the then unknown Zach Braff Berlin crew who are cooler than you Broken Hearts Club (You did the strike-through text gag already, get on with it. Ed.)
C'est magnifique! (Wrong country. You're fired. Ed.) Here are the important details:
PUMA AND MODULAR PRESENT RUDOLF DASSLER AW09 LAUNCH PARTY Thursday 2nd July 2009 @ The Puma Store Tauentzienstrasse 18, Berlin
LADYHAWKE HOT CHIP'S JOE GODDARD BROKEN HEARTS CLUB [Ingrid, Niki and Conny] MODULAR DJs
Look out for your Notion Fashion Crew there! They will incorporate: a man with one white eyebrow+lashes, presumably looking at his reflection in whatever shiny thing is around him; a loud, lovely colourful girl; and a man with an enormous afro, talking loudly. Go to the bottom of this post for some images to recognise them by.
[Your regular planetnotion editor is away, probably sat on a toilet somewhere reading the collected works of Charles Bukowski and occasionally swigging from a bottle of Dr Maudlin's Special Juniper Drink. Forgive the brief change in style, normal service will be resumed shortly.]
