A new pub is opening. Hoorah! Just when Planet Notion was thinking that dodgy licensing laws and the smoking ban and the credit crunch were forcing the Great British boozer to go the way of the wind, we’re presented with The Black Sheep, a Gastro Pub in Brick Lane, London.
Sadly it’s only temporary, so don’t go spunking your pants just yet.
The Black Sheep will reside at The Truman Brewery to mark the release of mobile phone maker, Palm Europe LTD’s brand new Treo Pro Smartphone. More on the phone later, first, what you can expect from The Black Sheep from October 13th – 17th, whilst it’s open.
The gastro pub will welcome an ‘audience with’ night for each day its open, with food being served up by Michelin starred and head-chef of The Ledbury in Notting Hill, Brett Graham. The guest stars for each day will represent those that go against the grain; those that like to do things in their own unique way… even if some of the people (Piers Morgan) are the kind of people you love to hate and love all the more for the hate of it.
Alas, we’re a music site (predominantly), so we’ll let you know the exciting news first.
Synth-pop pioneers and all-round darlings of the 80s, Human League will be performing a one-off show on Tuesday 14th. The band tasted success with 1981 album Dare!, which reached the number 1 spot alongside the hit single Don’t You Want Me Baby. The track is still as popular now as it was then, receiving regular airplay and consistently played in suburban clubs the country over.
Alas, here’s a run-down of the other guys and gals taking to The Black Sheep:
Monday – Piers Morgan (former editor of News of the World and Daily Mirror) Tuesday – Human League (As above) Wednesday – Karren Brady (CEO of Birmingham City FC and newspaper columnist) Thursday – Primetime comedian (Details are sketchy…) Friday – Beijing GB Gold Medalist (Ditto)
