10/11/2008 Another Monday morning, another Monday morning hang-over. And, of course, another dose of album and singles chart news. We’ll start with the singles chart, where the X-Factor finalists’ rehash of Mariah Carey’s Hero has managed to fend-off competition and stay at number one for another week.
Beyonce’s new single, If I Were A Boy, was the highest charting new entry at number two. The song features Beyonce pondering what she would do if she were a boy. Things like getting drunk and sleeping with girls and generally doing all the cliché things a guy would, and does, do.
All profits from the X-Factor single are being donated to the Help For Heroes charity, which helps servicemen and women injured in battle, as well as the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. Britney Spears’ latest single, Womanizer, entered at number four.
In the album charts, Girls Aloud gave Johnny Borrell a right-hook and clinched the number one spot with new album Out of Control. I haven’t heard it, but the Observer Music Monthly wrote: "Last year’s ‘Tangled Up’ was their first disappointment and Out of Control, despite its pushy title, suggests that Xenomania’s once-bottomless well of great ideas is running dry." In other words, it’s a bit cack.
Razorlight only managed to get to number four with ‘Slipway Fire’. The End. |
