Charity pair call on world DJs for Mongolian Mixtape Marathon
Charity pair call on world DJs for Mongolian Mixtape Marathon
03/06/2009
People don’t do enough for other people these days.

You hear about it every week; people having their bags pinched by hoods and nobody doing a thing about it; passersby looking on like rabbits caught in headlights.

And who seriously gives their clothes to charity shops?

Bet it’s a very small proportion of the nation. Most people just fling them out for the garbage compactor to shred and tear; regurgitated for the worms to feed on, beneath the mud and the crud and the sh*t.

Which is why it’s quite refreshing to see two guys embarking on a mission to raise money for UK charity Save the Children.

Thing is, they need your help…

Thanks to UK charity aid Go Help, Alastair Sloan and Thomas MacThomas have joined-up with Mongolia Charity Rallies - who organise off-road vehicle rallies to Mongolia to raise money for Mongolian communities and children.

The lads will depart in their vehicle, packed full of clothing and educational books for the Mongolian community, on July 11th.

The ten-thousand mile ride will depart from London before heading through Europe, central Asia and culminating in an epic dash through the Gobi Desert.

With an 800 hour journey ahead of them (maybe more!), the lads are calling on the world’s DJs to donate one hour mix-tapes for their journey, in the hope that dance music will keep their spirits high.

Talking about the inspiration behind the challenge Alastair Sloan said “The groundswell of support we've received from DJs already has been awe-inspiring. I'm just hoping our speakers will be up to it!"

Those DJs include Krafty Kuts, Brodinski, Ben & Lex, NAPT, Jaimie Fanatic, Miles Dyson, Nick Thayer and The Young Punx. plus AC Slater, A1 Bassline, Aquasky, Foamo, Trevor Loveys, and The Rogue Element courtesy of TFAbookings.Com.

Raising money for Save The Children and in association with The Mongolia Charity Rally, organised by UK registered charity Go Help, each DJ will be asked to pledge a one hour mix of their favourite tunes and also make a small donation (of at least £1).

At the end of this epic journey the vehicle used will be donated to a local farming community and all DJ mixes pledged will be made available to stream or download from MongolianMixtapeMarathon.Com.
