08/05/2008 Ah, one has a hazy mind this morning, a head like a two-by-four being massacred by a builder’s hammer. Alas, saving one from the horrors of the eternal hangover is news of a brand new festival for 2008: Redfest.
The festival, taking place from Friday the 4th to Saturday the 5th of July at Robins Cook Farm in Redhill, Surrey, has music ranging from rock to electro and Indie to dance. It’s hoped that the eclectic bill will “capture the imagination of the iPod generation.”
Recently added to the line-up are the nu-rave, thrash electro twosome that everyone’s talking about, Crystal Castles. They’ll be joined by the likes of Los Campesinos, The Maccabees, Pete and The Pirates, Late of the Pier, Johnny Foreigner, Lightspeed Champion, Ebony Bones, and Does it Offend You, Yeah?
As promoter Matt Nichols explains: “How many festivals these days feel soulless? With Redfest, I want to reduce the emphasis on gimmicks and corporate sponsorship and take things back to basics so today’s youth can have the same experience that previous generations of festival goers had: an event put on purely with music in mind.”
Tickets for Redfest, which has a 5,000 capacity, are priced at a mere £64 + booking fee. For more information visit the Redfest website or the festivals MySpace page. |
