Usher defends Jay-Z over Noel Gallagher's 'Glasto' claims!
06/05/2008
Usher has rallied to Jay-Z’s defence following Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher’s comments that “there’s no place for hip hop at Glastonbury”.

Speaking to The Sun, Usher said: “It really shocked me that he [Noel] said that. Jay-Z is an incredible artist and headliner.

“I saw him perform at the Hollywood Bowl in LA, and you’re not getting better than that”.

R&B singer Usher, whose 2004 album ‘Confessions’ sold more copies in the week off its release than any other R&B LP, visits the UK tomorrow to promote new album ‘Here I Stand’.

The singer and actor worked with Jay-Z on the new album and told The Sun: “When we got to work together on my new album, I was sitting there like a fan the whole time”.

Last week Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis leapt to his daughter’s defense over the decision to book Jay-Z as a headlining act. Speaking to The Sun’s Bizarre column in response to Noel’s comments, Eavis ‘blasted’:

“Why did he [Noel] need to get involved? It was a bit weird, to be honest. He should give someone else a chance. He needn’t have said that and I was disappointed he did.”

In other news, Eavis is adamant that Amy Winehouse will be playing Glastonbury this year despite the singer’s problems away from music.

“We want Amy. I can’t say anything else at this stage except that she was my first choice when I started to compile a list of artists,” Eavis told The Sun.
